I received an email this morning about Intel finally releasing the 2700K. Too bad I bought my 2600K 2 weeks ago.

I don't see the point in the 2700k to be honest it's not leaps and bounds better than the 2600k just slightly faster. If you are buying new then it's worth getting over the 2600k but if you already have a 2600k you're not missing out on much.

I agree

I was upgrading from an E7500 Core 2 Duo so it would be worth the upgrade for me. And if rumors are true, the 2700K should be much more stable and more efficient when overclocking due to the "cherry picked" die. As tests have shown, the 2700K has made it to 5.0ghz on air. Impressive if you ask me.

I think the 2600k will suit your needs just fine, mate.

Wait until the newer chips surface, then you can upgrade to one of them.

You will get 5ghz on air with a D14 and a 2600k the 2700k are just cherry picked 2600k's there isn't a massive amount of difference around 100mhz or so nothing to write home about really

yup there I got 5.3 on air with my d-14 link in sig for validation I dony know why but lol I havent tried again since I went water lol

I'd be surprised if the 2700k was cherry picked at all. It's only a 2600k with a 100MHz bump. No cherry picking IMO, just a small bump in clock speed to raise the price a little.

I don't really see the point in the 2700k. It's not like you couldn't oc a 2600k and get the same overall oc out of it.

I had the CPU E7500 C2D and upgraded to the 7600 2.6Ghz = massive improvement.

Awesome to get a 2700k, I think intel owe us better than to simply bump the frequency, that's too simple for the most reputable micro processor manufacturer ^^ haha, worth the extra £15 sure. £46 no from me... too poor

hmmm, wait for SB Extreme is the wisest option, + you get time to save for it i hope
