I think i broke wireless

I was playing around with the rig today, tidying a few bits up and stuff, rearranging stuff, where the keyboard was connected etc etc

in the process i think i over-tightened the WLAN connectors on the I/O Sheild and now my rig wont pick up any wireless, it has 2 connectors, one works and the other doesnt, tested with a multi-meter

ive tried various combinations of connecting the working connector and antenna to each port on the wifi card and couldnt get a bit of signal, i get enough to pick up the router but its so weak it never connects, im assuming it requires both to be connected

what do you guys suggest, dont really wanna RMA the board over this.

Maximus V Formula with the bundled Broadcom wireless mini pci card

Use a powerline adapter maybe?

i was thinking that, but ive always wondered if they would work through a extension cable?

the router is on a extension cable in the living room and my rig is also on an extension upstairs in my room

they are both different circuits, as upstairs and downstairs have there own connection in the fusebox

You need one powerline adapter connected to the router and another connected to your PC. Both adapters need to be plugged in an actual wall socket. I'm pretty sure with an extension, the adpaters won't work.

then it wont work for me, the way the rooms are laid out, everything is plugged into extensions

Ah, that's bad news. Just to be sure, did you loosen the connector you over tightened?

yeah ive loosened and wriggled it around, one connector is broken 100% multi-meter confirms this, the other one works, but seems the WiFi card needs both connected to function

Would it be possible to order a replacement connector or am I missing something?

ahh yeah could do, its like them laptop wifi antennae connector types

so i just bought new connectors, still doesnt work, reinstalled windows incase something was FUBAR and nope!

not really sure where to look next?

just pulled the mPCIe out the laptop and plugged it on, works fine, the old card doesnt work in the laptop, so must have a dead card!

not worth RMA'ing the board over a dead card, now need to find the most powerful and reliable mPCIe wireless card...
