High Temp readings on Gigabyte motherboard?

Well I am kinda going from one thing to another. My original question was about the motherboard miss reading the temperatures, but it has now lead on to the voltages.

When I am in a full server on CS: Source, no matter what graphics settings I am on it still can drop to 10-15 fps  So if I put this down to the chip as I know that the 6600gt can run CS: Source full spec. If I clock it up and if the CPU temp rises dramatically I'll get a new cooling for it!

Guys,

The stock voltage for jiffz cpu is 1.65v (google it)

My guess is that either the board is overvolting a tad, or it is simply just reading the voltages too high. So dont change any voltage settings mate.

Jiffz, for anyone wanting to overclock their machine, i would suggest improving the cooling. The hs/fan that came with your CPU would work better as a door stop!

I'm not saying, go out and splash £50 on a new cooler, but there are plenty of things to be had for the £20ish mark that will piss over the performance of your AMD heatsink.

No motherboard has 100% accurate temp readings - infact some have totaly bogus readings (like my dfi 875p-t that always read 24-25oc). It even depends on what BIOS version your board is running, so there is no sure fire way to find out - apart from sticking a temp probe next to ur cpu core.

As for the FPS issues in CSS..has it always been like that?

Cheers for the values Nick! I'm not gona touch the voltage yet though because I havn't put it up to begin with, as suggested the damn readings may be off on this too! Why can't they put decent sensors on the boards?

Thanks XMS for clearing all that stuff up for me! :D XMS just walks on in and answers all the questions, point by point, case closed! :rollingla

I have been looking for CPU cooling for £20 and have seen many different ones but havn't seen great reviews for anything yet. There's the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 which looks big+ugly but does the job and then I've seen some Zalmans which sound good too. Suggestions welcome! :)

Oh and should I start a new thread for this in the correct place?

You think that's bad, DFI's sensor's are downright laughable. :rollingla

I reccomend the Thermalright SI-97 for the heatsink. I'm not sure how much it is in silly money though (£).

Yeah, if you could open a new thread it might drum you up a bit more assitance in finding you a decent cooler for your money.

Just let us know how much you have to spend, and i'm sure we can spend every penny of it for ya ;)

Actually Nick, I've been to Ameica and you have the silly money! You end up with loads of single dollar bills. I like the quarters (I collected about 15 all with different states on them), but u only have 10 cents, 5 cents and then 1 cents. You end up with loads of shitty 1's.

I've experienced both and U.K currency is laid out the best! Dunno if Nick will receive an :0wned: from Eguy back in his direction, as he is also yank! :p

Lol :p.

What's wrong with 1 cents 5 cents 10 cents, & 25 cents?

We do have 50 cent pieces but they're VERY rare.

I wonder how many Americans come to Australia and are like "omfg 50 cent coins lolz dats awesome i'm taking them home cos they're so rare"
