Help, What windows 10 can I install on new rig?

Need a fresh new install of windows on my PC, will be putting in an M.2 drive and installing on that.

I see there are copies of Windows 10 listed as OEM? Then saw in a comment section someone that says they build many PC's that OEM has problems, not meant for home-built rigs? Crashes and blue screens, no MS support etc.

What is that about? Is there a non-OEM version I should be installing instead?

Safe to purchase off amazon?

I am not too knowledgeable about this, I thought windows was windows, Home, Pro etc, Was not aware of OEM.

If someone could maybe drop a link of a proper version and safe source to purchase from, of a copy of windows, that would be appreciated. Prefer a hard copy of a disc or usb drive rather than a software download.

Do you already have windows 10? You say you need a fresh new install, which to me sounds like you already have it you just want to start from scratch.

If that's the case you can reinstall windows using the official MS media creation tool. It will allow you to download windows 10 to a USB drive and you can use that to boot and install a new windows instance. No money required. It'll use your existing license key.

If you don't currently have windows, you can purchase it from MS themselves, Amazon with MS official store page, or any other reputable retailer in your region.

Nope, I do not have a "Legit" windows 10. Want to purchase a real copy of Windows 10 and install on the new m.2 I ordered.

Then you will need to purchase one copy at any of the stores I mentioned earlier I'm afraid to get a genuine license. I'm sure closing in on the year now you'll probably find a sale or something to help lower the costs.

what about the issue with Windows OEM versions? Is there a non-OEM version I should get. Is one better than the other for a home-built rig?

I created an install USB using the tool at the MS website. Purchased a 10 Pro retail Key from MSofficestore.com for $54 u.s, Will pop in the M.2 when it arrives and boot from the USB and see how it goes. I assume once I install the M.2, it will just show up as another lettered Drive on the system? Do I need to do any formatting to it or partitioning? This will be my frist M.2. I picked this one up.. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KFN1KT1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp&th=1

The download from MSofficestore worked great and was really easy, half the price of what I had seen other places. Did go with a regular retail version and stayed away from the OEM.
