HD 7970 Next Month!

well next year technically but i am looking to buy a HD 7970 but im stuck between which card to choose from. i have heard some good stuff about the vapor x sapphire version for its cooling however some people noticed a minor coil whine which is a reason i replaced my gtx 560ti.

i am also considering 680 but i just see many more pro's for the 7970...

which brand shall i purchase?

i currently have i5 3570k 3.4ghz 3rd generation
8GB corsair XMS3 8GB Two Memory Module Kit
GTX 560ti
Phantom Full tower case
650Watt OCZ 60+ bronze powersupply.

7970 - Overclocks much more, cheaper, more vram. The 7950 OC rapes the 680 OC so... go for 7970!

I heard good things about the MSI lightening but its slightly more expensive.
Any popular brand such as Asus, Gigabyte, MSI , Sapphire will be fine.
All perform pretty similar . all comes down to aesthetics imo.

Haha, Thats great... i am going for the 7970 for sure. i was looking at the MSI version and its around £30 more than the sapphire version, but going to read up more on the MSI version.

i just came across the XFX Radeon HD 7970 which seems much cheaper. it is clocked to 1000mhz while the normal clock is around 925mhz i think.

has anyone come across this graphics card?

I'm also going to buy a 7970 during the next week or so. The MSI Lightning edition is the best performing model at this moment in time due to the overclocking capabilities but is also one of the most expensive. I pay great attention to the aesthetics of my build which has a black/red colour scheme. Therefore I will most likely be buying the XFX model, as it has great performance, looks good and is at a brilliant price!

If you've go the money and like the look of the MSI Lightning edition, get that one.

Just don't go for a ghz edition, because their BIOS can not be flashed ..
