Havik 120 nh-d14

just wondering how these 2 compare to eachother? im about to order 1 of them before this weekend is over, and looking into the havik for about half the price

The Havik 120 is a good cooler, but it's not on the level of the D14. The Havik 140 on the other hand does achieve similar temps to the D14, but the D14 edges ahead by a couple degrees. It just depends on how much cooling you need (i.e how much overclocking you will do & how hot your room is) and how much you're willing to spend

i have a 2500k right now, has been overclocked to 4.6 for a while, but as summer is comeing my room temps r going WAY up, and so r my cpu temps, came home from work lastnight to 80+C temps on the cpu...curently useing a Coolit systems ECO 120mm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835227006 on it, but that is no longer enough

If you need loots of cooling power go for D-14.

if you are used to water, you have two choices, high-end air-cooler or custom loop.
the XSPC systems for a small turnkey loop is quite an enhancement.

as much as i would LOVE to build a full loop, right now the money part is an issue....so gotta keep the price a little lower....$299 + tax + shipping for the XSPC system is more than i can do atm

For the price, the Havik 120 is great. If you can stretch the extra few dollars for the Havik 140/Noctua then I would, but the Havik 120 is still going to give you some good results.

i would LOVE a H100, however, there is nowhere for me to mount one in the antech 900

Not really anything to worry about, as the 'D14 is within a few degrees of the H100 anyway.
I always think that the prebuilt watercoolers are more about aesthetics, to be honest. They allow you to show off your RAM a little more

Well the H100 is noticeably better when using hotter chips. Just tend not to notice it so much on i5s so it's not a deal breaker here but I'd take it over a D14 on an i7 (1155 or 2011).
