Haf X or Phantom

I am currently doing an all air cooled build and was wondering which one of the two (Haf-X or NZXT Phantom) you guys would recommend. I like the style of the Phantom a lot more and have heard some pretty great things about it, but at the same time I like the size and showiness of the Haf-X. I know they are both good cases but for airflow (going to have duel 570s, 2600k prob with NH-D14) I would like to know which will perform the best. Thanks for the help/opinions.

actually look at it another way if you will. As they are both great cases. What might a future system consist of mobo wise??? a nine slot mobo (XL-ATX)???? if yes then Only the Haf X of those two will work. as its a 9 slot case compared to the Phantoms 7 slots.

sry 4 da triple post but was tryin to be funny

I did chuckle at that actually hah, was kind of thinking wtf for a moment. The MB is I am getting is ATX but that is a good point, if in the future I wanted to upgrade to XL-ATX then already having a case to house it would be good. Thanks for the input.

the HAF-X has better airflow and a side window, but the phantom's front panel hides all the bays

plus the fans in the phantom look and sound cheap

HAF-X is better performance wise, but the NZXT looks infinitely better imho. So it's entirely up to you and your preferences. I personally cringe when I see the HAF-X. It's so fugly!

EDIT: Phantom might get equal performance if you fill all the fan slots with quality fans, but will cost a fair bit. ~$200AUD

It depends on what you are going to do with your system, if you want to water cool in the future then the Haf X is the best option but if you are just going to air cool I would go with the Phantom.

Honestly. I dont know what to do myself , because Ive asked which case would be best for air cooling and is quiet. In my thread more people said the Phantom over the hafX or the Raven2. Some people (two who have the HafX) Said the HafX is a noisey dust trap with poor build quality. In this thread its the opposite. I am very confused. I really want the Phantom for its looks (the HAF X Is horrible) , but if the HAFX has better air flow and is quiet then I will buy that.

Yes the HAF X has better airflow and noise would be around the same as the Phantom. So you're choosing between performance or looks, the cruellest decision us enthusiast must make.

Can I be biased since I have 1? Haf x ftw. Plus I modded my mobo tray for better cable management. Will post vid when done. Excellent case. Very sturdy

only thing i found with the haf is that it gets rather dusty, and its a bit of a ball ache to remove all the filters and clean them.

whereas the phantom gets less dusty, and has easier filter access.

Both perform well in cooling though.

Well, the dust is easily removed with a small vaccum cleaner. Inside I clean once a week with dried compressed air I bring from my auto shop in a old zep can sprayer. I hate bought air. Remove side panel, pff pff. done.

I'd say phantom purly on looks + i have 1 ^.^ and you can easily change all the fans on the phantom to make it quieter and perform better
