hi,
looking to get myself active on the forum to become part of the awesome community here on the OC3D Forums! doing a great job Tom!

Anyway.....
I'm looking to upgrade my cpu cooler from stock(finally)
i have an i5 2500k sandy, and want to overclock but not aggressively something comfortable as i don't really need it. i have recently invested in a fract arc midi r2 but it arrived broken major disappointment!!
However EBUYER.COM have done a great job of sorting another one out for me... highly recommend them.. so far 2 items next day delivery for the free option of with 5 days! which is awesome!
now to the real question should i save some money and go for the h80i or spend the extra for the h100i ?? i would prefer the cheaper version as money doesnt grow on tree's as the saying goes.

thanks for looking :wavey:

i just find that with the h100i i can have the fans running slower to get the same performance as the h80i so it can be run quieter. but the h80i is still great for performance but then if you want to dissipate more heat or overclock further then the h100i if just small OCing then either would be fine

If fitment or cost aren't a problem, get the H100i. It's a better cooler and will handle anything you throw at it pretty much. It's handling my 8150 which is a heat generating machine and I'm able to keep the fans on the slowest setting at which they're virtually silent.

With a moderate overclock on yours, the H100i would likely be able to run silent too and if you ever do want to get into some heavier overclocking you'll have the extra cooling muscle to handle it.

I have the H80i and personally I don't see the point of the H100i unless you're going to be doing some serious overclocking.
I have both my fans set with a very conservative curve and one the fans is set to minimum rpms unless temps get over a certain limit then it picks up to match the other, so it's very quiet, but very cool
I'm happy with the H80i, but it does restrict me putting a big rad in the roof of my case so I can't easily add a custom loop for my new gpu's

if you was gonna custom loop id get rid of the h80 and put that in your loop

I like the H80i and it's pretty much brand new, so i'm thinking of doing some modding so I can keep it.

if you think you need an extra 13° of cooler temperatures, then enlist the corsair H100/i.
the H80/i will have to do some major fan speed to keep up and stay cool. so most
change the fans and it gets worse in temps. so if thinking H80 over H100 and you can
fit the H100 easily, you should be saving your extra cash for the H100..
the Noctua NH-D14 can do easily what the H80 can do.. with less noise.
