GTX570 vs HD6XXX

I'm looking at building a new gaming computer in late January of this fine new year

From what i can see the GTX570 is the new sweet-spot(ish) for a lot of power for a fairly decent price.

In Tom's reviews he doesn't really compare the HD6970 or 6950 with the 570 and i was wondering of anyone could share some insight as to which of these cards i should look at buying. I want to play things like BFBC2 and other high end new release games at high spec in 1920x1080.

Thanks for your help and happy new year

The HD6970 and GTX570 are about on the same level concerning performance. It all comes to features, if you need Eyefinity take the AMD card, but if you need PhysX, CUDA, 3D take nVidia. Also the GTX570 should be quieter then the HD6970, in case you put any price on silence.

Do you have any intention on adopting later CF/SLI?

I think i will probably go to CF/SLI once the single card is struggling (although i'm not sure this will happen, i may just buy a new card).

Eyefinity and 3D aren't really up my ally so it doesn't really bother me.

Silence is good

but not essential.

So either or will be fine?

Good day, cn i get some advice? Cuz im planning to get gpu this late Jan, either a gtx570 or HD6970.. the overclock3d review on youtube about 6970 said he'll tell u to get the gtx570 card everytime cuz its better.. But what if it is in sli 570 vs CF 6970 which is better? Cuz i heard 6970CF is near gtx580?. And in terms of future proofing which will shine with driver updates, sli/CF, and etc?? Thanks guys =)

570 is higher performance than a 6970 in pretty every instance except Unigine where the new tessellation powers of 6970 can shine through.

Now when it comes to value for money, you could look at a 6950 and flash BIOS and unlock it to a 6970, it has like a 95% success rate. Check out info on it at TechPowerUp.

Hello

I saw Tom's Youtube reviews and I understood, frankly, the 570 is winning. looking at nvidias build quality is like looking at a lambourghini. i played Bad Company 2 at 1920x1080 with 1 GTX 480, it runs perfectly. the 570 is its big brother and it'll suit you fine and they produce better quality images than the AMD stuff. when/if? you get the 570, try to enhance the performance/quality in the Nvidia Control Pannel. For warranty and service/bonus's look at EVGA

or save like you want the 580

According to many the 6970 is on par with the GTX570, so it's usually at this point that I recommend going on price. They might be the same price (roughly) but if one's on special offer for example I'd go for that.

For gaming at 2560x1600 or more than one screen I would suggest a 6970 due to the 2gb of ram, but apart from that there is no real performance difference between the two

Yer on single card I don't think so gtx 570 eat 6970 now if crossfire or sli in that they become more balanced.

As I said get a 6950 cheaper than a 6970, flash BIOS and unlock it to a 6970 save some money while your at it and PROFITS!

Slight chance of failure and making AMD very angry? But thnx to dual BIOS switch it's unlikely you'll brick it? Also voids warranty

And chance that the gpu gives up in shorter time but yer just saying alot people are very happy with this which fair enf just there are risks people need to think about which new people would need to know. But yer see why you love it lol

So many give advice here, but we don't know yet if his motherboard actually supports CF and/or SLI. This is why I asked before giving advice going one way or the other. Also the CPU will tell us if it can handle multi-gpu setups without heavily bottlenecks.

thats why i reckon gtx 570 good in sli and single card

high-end EVGA cards have 10 years warranty. it allows the user to overclock and overvolt. fry your card, get a new one

mm. i did about 20 emails with EVGA to get the EVGA card we want and paid for because SCAN sent us a SC 480 and didn't want to let us have the SC+ 480 card, or a discount. And I asked EVGA staff if the warranty conditions allow me to overclock. The reply was like I wrote. We can over-clock and over-volt.

Alterations to the product means physical. I did ask about that specific detail.

And SCAN collected the SC and gave me the SC+

Actually legally you could class that as misuse I'm not trying to be downer just realistic I work for company who are like this with terms and conditions.
