GTX470 VS 5870

Just bought a used GTX 470 with a huge zalman cooler for €135 posted.

I was going to get a 5870 as i was building a sub £500.

Did i make the right choice? for the price anyways?

Sorry I have been coding the last 14 hours, can't help it. But Yeah you made the right choice, the 5870 was a fantastic card but the 470 will perform a bit better I think.

The 470 only performs better in DX11 applications. In DX10 and 9 the 5870 will see a slight improvement.

Crysis 2 high texture DX11 ultra setting, 4xAA 1920x1080. 470 33fps, 5870 32fps

BF3 1920x1080 Dx11, ultra mode, 4xMSAAAA enabled, 16x AF enabled

470 30fps, 5870 29fps

3d mark11 470 4351p score, 5870 - 4458p score

So you see the cards are pretty mutch equal in DX11 games/benches. For DX10 apps the 5870 looks to be the fastest overall.

I think it was a good buy, especially with a better cooler. The 5870 sells for 100-150£ second hand in norway

Yeah it was a good buy vs the 5870 as there near enough identical performance wise, i got my 5870 a few weeks ago with a geiled icy vision cooler on it for £130 (around 150 euro) so you got a better deal than me
