hi guys recently just bought a 260 off sum1 on ebay but hav found out it is missin half a chip off the pci-e interface

just wonderin if this will affect the cards performance or stability?

do you mean the actual GPU chip,or the RAM chips, lmao if it is missing the GPU chip then no it wont work and i hoped you payed via paypal

got any pics mate? most likely a resistor or cap of some sort. sometimes they work with some missing...sometimes they dont.

no i mean it is missing a gold contact of the pci-e slot!!

like in this picture! i know the pic is of an agp card but will have to upload a pic of what i mean with my card need to get in my pc first!!

He means the part of the card that plugs into the mobo.

In the pic the 260 is underneath the agp card,2nd in from the right there is only half a gold contact.

Pretty sure he means that, dunno about how it will affect or if its supposed to be like that.ATI here ;)

If that is indeed what you mean then try it, if it doesnt work, get a conductive pen or paint and complete the pin and try again

If it is actually a damaged chip, post up an actual photo. Either way there's nothing more conclusive than plugging it in and trying

Its that half gold tab he's on about.

And yes its meant to be like that every card Ive had from an 8 series nvidia card to the 4800 series ati cards have them, nothing to worry about.

That half tab is standard, all PCIe 16x cards have it like that. It's not really half, it's 1/4 shorter then the rest. Don't try to make it longer, you'll void your warranty.
