I have 2x GTX Evga 980`s in SLI - on a X99S MSI Mothboard.
3 Monitors - VG278HE ( one is a HR - with 3d in middle) 144hz ASUS
PROBLEM - new GTX980`s have 2x DVI Dual link outputs but that leaves the 3rd monitor.
I have to use DVI input with the ASUS vg278HE and it HAS to be DUAL LINK to allow over 60hz.
I have the whole setup working great - benchmarked and ready to run - but the issue is the 3rd screen and the DP out put from the GTX980..... I have purchased a DP2DVIMM3BS from startech - supports higher output and spoke with startech and verified it is same as dual link and support on tech spec the over 60hz I need.
OK this leaves me with the following issue - works and NVidia surround is all at 144hz and 3 screens displayed with NVidia control panel - BUT
on 3rd screen ( where DP is used and adaptor) the message from ASUS arrives (monitor message) "Incorrect Cable. Please use the dual-link DVI cable that came with your monitor."
This message can be removed when you press menu and it all works : but it comes back every time the screen res changed - ie loading a map/game :-(
Please help.
Maybe I need a better DP to DVI (dual head) adaptor - but which one?
Maybe there is a work around for the Asus OSD message?
I am at wits end trying to discover the best solution. I believe gtx980 is outputting the DP1.2 standard. and maybe someone out there has 3 dvi cards plugged into a GTX980 and results are perfect, if so how
