GTX 580 pics

Can I do a review now: The 580 series has some performance gains over the 480, with the full 512 cores, but now is so hot it will melt through the bottom of the case, your floor and end up in Australia. You won't see this as your ears will have exploded and so too your brain.

I wonder what the price point of this will be, if it is going to be the same as the 480 launched at, Nvidia have not shot themselves in the foot, they've taken a chainsaw to their legs.

If this is real I think it will do more harm than good for nvidia.

Being new I think it will be over priced hot and expensive with no pro's :S

I just finished watching this video, take a look, it's all about the GTX 580

Oh jesus wept that IS the card and that IS the cooler.

I could cry. I really could just burst into tears

I watched the vid last night. I found it absolutely hilarious that they are placing it close to the 285 for noise levels and heat. Without realising that the 285 was also slagged off for being too hot and too loud

They really are pig ignorant. That or they are just completely oblivious to what is happening in the real world.

I had a 285 folding and it wasnt hot or loud so compairing it to that is a big thing imho. The bar has been placed very high.

I just don't understand it Tom. The 460 was a revamp and god, we've all seen what a triumph it was. I'm going to design a cooler later today (once the courier has been).

Well due to very bad filenaming on their website and a lot of hints from staff I think Aria PC will be announcing what they will be stocking tomorrow just after 2PM.

Well if those prices are HKD and the card does indeed cost £319 then adding vat would go something like this..

17.5% of 319 = 55.82500

So I would be amazed to see it for less than £400 here, considering this is the country of greedy ass rape.

And I can't see it going 25% faster than a 480 really so on release it wouldn't be that much of a bargain.

Never know, I might well be surprised, but I wouldn't pay anything near that for a card with a blower cooler on no matter how well it worked.

Are you lot mad??

The very fastest and most powerful GPU is always going to be hotter than the rest?? It's always been the case although reports are that this should consume a touch less power than the 480 and also be quieter whilst being faster?

What more can they do?

Oh yeah there are full reviews around too.. I wont link them direct but they can be found if you search.

Edit: After reading said review, it looks like it is very quiet indeed compared to any other high end card. Gotta give them credit for that.

I want F@H numbers NOW

eHehe just a little

seen some prices now , no surprice.......

anyone has a link to a review that has a F@H chart ?

It's a 480 with more stuff unlocked and a 10% OC.

At best it's about 15% faster than the 480 but downlocks itself if you use over 300w.

So basically then it's a slightly tweaked 480 that will cost a sh*tload more than the 480.

People are already saying it's what the 480 should have been, but the 480 should have been released nearly a year ago.

And it's still not as fast as a 5970.

Edit. $589.99 ROFLMFAO. Erm yeah, I'll take two

It could've been quieter and cooler though dude. That's all we are saying here.

It's pretty damn quiet from the reviews I read last night and also the temperature at full load was around 85 I think which is pretty decent considering the amount of transistors in the thing.

Will be a little pricey at launch and yeah it trades blows with the 5970 depending on the benchmark. Gotta remember that a dual core gpu should beat the best single core card. A lot of people will still sway that way to avoid the trouble that dual core cards can bring.

I'm in no way saying it's perfect as the money is a lot, but it looks pretty damn good.
