GTA V on PC anyone?

well it did hate my old fx-4100, but then again which game didn't hate that thing. still my 4670k + 770 struggle with everything maxed out as well, drops to 30fps.

I almost wonder if it hates hardware of a certain age... My friend's good ol' i5 750 (I think) and 570 super OC edition-thing run it really, really smoothly. Like well enough for it to stay at 60 with the modded textures. His new PC can do that just about and he's got a 4770k and a 780 lightning.

HOW DID THEY MESS IT UP.

idk, the game has already aged quite a bit.

they didn't for one it's not a pc game but one ported to the pc so it sort of makes sense that it runs better on hardware of the time.

if you think gta is a hard game port to run try darksouls.

but as i said gta already runs on x86 so should be much better optimised then gta 4 was.

There were other ports of the time that were good or even others that were bum yet run fine on today's hardware. It hopefully will be better optimised but in all honesty I wouldn't put it past rockstar for them to do something bad...

I find that GTA IV hates AMD stuff. My old gts 450+ i3 550 ran the game fine (~60fps) on med-high but my 7870 and 8320 can struggle on high-ultra.

My old Phenom II X4 955 (not overclocked) along with a GTX 560 managed GTA IV reasonably well, I'm pretty sure I would have had the settings maxed out.

Although I didn't really get very far in it, I got sick of if it very quickly. I think I managed one or two missions and that was it. The rest of the game could have lagged like crap for all I know. :p

i think i started gta 4 like 10 times and the furthest i've made it was the second island, i'm just not very persistent when it comes to singleplayer games.
view distance seems to be the main issue for the framerate though, probably doesn't utilize the CPU properly.

not sure if it's been said already, but mmoga.com got GTA 5 up for pre-order with a delivery date

From I see around, the general date is Spring 2014...

I did come accross this though...

Linky

EU Release Date - under the box art

I think some monkey could pick any random date of 2014 and people would get themselves hyped for it....and until R* officially announce it, who knows.....
Personally though it'd be willing to wait that little bit longer for a release which is near faultless and very well optimised...

Dude I don't know what you did wrong but my FX-8150 and gigabyte 7870 breeze thru GTA IV as a matter of fact I'm online right now if anyone wants to play on Steam my steam ID is: Victor_Vaughn

@1080p resolution I get a steady 53fps on default settings.

Default as in the settings it chose for you? Thats basically high-medium if its done the same for yours as mine. Not acceptable on a pc that plays sleeping dogs on high at a steady 60 (99% gpu usage, woot). What annoys me more is that if I add any mods it struggles quite badly and doesn't make use of my video memory (custom car models, of which the ai only seem to drive around in taxis :l). my 280x should arrive this weekend, I'm hoping it means I can finally use the ultra hd gta IV textures at a nice framerate :D.

Taxi bug is caused by the modded cars, you have to be careful which cars/pack you add, trafficfix can solve that but it brings its own problems.

Trafficfix (and the other equivalents) cause the game to become less stable then a three legged donky. What is frustrating is it isn't pushing my cpu, gpu and RAM at all.

I usually play on Ultra settings but today I will capture a few screens of my FPS. I've been trying to find another gigabyte 7870 to cfx with my current card since I'm looking to piece together an eyefinity setup in the near future.
