graphics card causing interferance with guitar amp

what the title says.

has anyone here had the same phenomonon happen to them when the graphics card is under load your guitar amp or simuler devises pick up interferance from it.

and do you think this might transfer to headphone amps aswell or just be the guitar itself picking the interferance up and nothing to do with the amp. i also pick up a french radio station on this amp aswell. i know this is off topic but i would like to know if any of you guys have had a simuler thing happen.

Wow.. I haven't heard that about graphic cards.. but yeah if its making noise that could be possible..

It shouldn't happen though, there is something off in your set-up.. this could be the amp (an microphonic tube for instance), grounding issues on the guitar or amp. First thing to try is, does the amp pick-up this stuff without a guitar plugged in,

if so it's probably one of the tubes.. If not, try it with different guitars (preferably different pickups as well), so if you don't own more then one guitar try to get a mates one.

Also check all of your cables.. make sure the grounding is good on them, and they preferably have a thick sleeve.

Yes, especially guitar amps !

We get bands turning up to play in the studios and they bring all kinds of amps, held together with black-tape and all-sorts.

Of course, we have to test them before they can be plugged in.

Amps tho, what we tend to find is the earthing causes issues, I don't entirely know why myself, I generally get one of the studio engineers to come and look at it. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd be thinking the amps use the earth level as a reference for pd on some circuit somewhere and everything that's attached to the earth locally gets to talk to one another.

Often an engineer will come along, or one of the radio guys, and plug their amp into something before the mains and it cuts the noise out completely.

Don't ask me !

i have been doing some testing and came up with the conclusion that it is the guitar thats picking up the interferance and it happens with all 5 of my guitars, this amp is dosent have any tubes its all digital.

i filmed it in action if your intrested...

Nice alien sign receiver you've got there

sounds to me like a grounding problem.. can you try your amp in different sockets around the house and see if it still does this?

Rastalovich is probably on the mark, meaning that we will probably have to lift the ground off the guitar amp. Which is not something I would recommend as its not invented without reason

also, which amp are we talking about?

i have the amp in a difrent socket right now and it is doing the same thing

if you watch the video with sound you will see when i open up cryENGINE 3 it is putting load 80% ussage on my graphics card and my amp starts to make the noise.

you will also notice when i move my guitar closer to the pc the noise is loader and so forth. the amp is also shown in the video.

disclaimer *I am not an engineer or a physisist so I probably do not know what I am talking about, but i did stay at a holiday inn last night*

I would have to say it would be something to do with harmonic frequencies. Like electrostatic frequencies everything puts out a harmonic freq., and with an object like an electric guitar that has pickups to, lack of a better term, translate said freq's it is tuning in to the cooling fans on the gpu or whatever else on the gpu that is emiting on the same freq. But like the disclaimer said I probably dont know what I am talking about, but it seems very possible in my mind atleast.

What are those safety devices called that use the live and neutral pins as a means to, not ground, but will cut off in case of an accident similar to what the grounding of a device would do ??

God, I can't remember the name of them.... but they provide the safety net without passing a ground connection through...

If I get a chance I'll go speak to an engineer.
