Graphic or Photoshop skills and help required

Hi all,

I have been asked by a friend to see if I can help with a design he wants to get printed on a T-shirt for him and his mates and I know that there are alot of people on this forum who have excellent skills and could probably knock something up in minutes - unlike me.

What he is after is the Newcastle Brown Ale design (please google for a pic as the upload failed)?

Inside the blue star he wants the letter I in Times New Roman but still keeping the bridge detail. Ideally when you look at it you would think ISTAR. He wants to replace the words around the outside where it says Newcastle Brown Ale. If you do help feel free to put in your name and the year for example or OC3D if Tom permits until I find out exactly what he wants.

Any help is requested in as high res detail as possible as these will be centred on the chest of white T-shirts and enlarged quite a bit.

I cannot offer any prizes but only my sincerest of thanks for all who help and the kudos of been named victor - who knows the winner may get a tshirt sent if they wish.

Not sure if he wants the circular bottle cap logo or the beer label oval.

Just threw this together, let me know if that's the general idea and I can make it perfect.

Cheers for the swift response. He was after the circular bottle cap and wanted to keep the detail of the bridge in the star visible as well. The letter I looks spot on though

Cheers, they look cool and I have no idea how you created them that quick bending the words and all the other clever stuff you have done. I would like to see a version with a real bottle top. I have also discovered there are quite a lot of sites about this particular drink, making me thirsty and I am on a self imposed body cleanse after easter !

I need to use photoshop elements for more than getting rid of red eye I think.

I will try to do one with an actual photo of a cap; however, they would not look good on a shirt. Silk screening is the common process used (stitching is another) but only likes a limited number of colors. That is why I made this image using vectors, they can easily be scaled and are a consistent color.

Damn good job, and quick too. May I ask what program you are using?

Thank you. I'm using Photoshop CS5.5. Possibly one of my favorite programs of all time.

That makes sense what you said and is knowledgeable information which I would not have known. I am looking forward to a try with a photo, I am going to play with elements a bit tomorrow but I know it is limited to what it can do.

Do you mind if I forward what you have done already to him to give him ideas and get feedback - probably not until tomorrow pm now.

Appreciate what you have done so far. Wonder if any other experts fancy a go.

Looks like there is an official logo, did you just want an " I " added to the star and text changed? Or are you looking for something different from the official look? Do you want it looking like a label or something new?

Also if anyone needs a High Res image of the Official logo, you can get it here...

What's wrong with the lighting?

I suppose it's because if that was a real bottle top the specular highlight wouldn't look like that due to it being a curved convex surface, but also because there's no global lighting or shadows in the picture it looks a bit out of place?

I still think it would look great without the lighting

The lighting is good, but he wants the image to be the same all over and the lighting - well lightens it. I am more than happy to send both versions and let him choose (as in with and without light) as I think yours is better than my go, I can't even get the writing circular.

Oh and the other thing i forgot to do / figure out was to delete the background. Definately have to do some reading.

I am going to try and upload my effort soon, but as has been said teh one by cyanide looks great, if you could remove the light effect.

That actually looks real nice, the only part I would change would be the font of the text.
