"Girl Gamers" And Drama

Just a question to other players really.

Over the years I've played quite a few MMO's and various Online/Multiplayer games, Now a lot of my friends are women and 1 thing I have personally noticed over the years, "Girl Gamers" bring a lot of drama to the table where there is none or doesn't need to be.

For example if your in an instance or Heavy match and your in the "Zone", One of your friends asks you a question and you get to the Ventrillo/Teamspeak button a bit too late and they throw a hissy fit, Their mic is a bit loud and you ask them to turn it down and they say "Fine I just wont speak".....I could list so many more but that's the general idea.

This type of behaviour I've noticed from 90% of girl gamers I've met over the years and it confuses the hell out of me.

And my question to other players, Men and Women alike is, Why is this ?

girls do it because they get loads of attention for it, nothing makes a tryhard try harder than some girl teasing him. they just love it when a guy fights so hard to win them over. so far i've met only one girl gamer that i can respect because she's genuinely not interested in any guy's interest in her.
the easiest way to deal with this is not giving them what they want, i.e. attention. stick to male players who got some self respect and don't kneel in front of their supposed queen to have a shot at a "<3" in the chat, then eventually some girl will show up whose interest is genuine. and if none does, who cares. it's a game, not a dating site.

lol that kind of voice behaviour comes from guys just as much as girls mate. I would be careful where you go with this. Beyond here be dragons...

idk about you but i've never seen some kid jump up to save the day when some guy does the "oke then i'm just not gonna talk at all anymore" thing. not saying though that guys can't do drama, just not that kind of drama.

In my experience in games like TF2 if either a boy or a girl gets pissy and does the "I'm not going to talk anymore" they get called either a drama queen or straight up ignored. I'm an admin on a TF2 server and if anyone makes a fuss over a simple request they get muted. In my experience age is the biggest cause of drama, for example a person who was recently banned from the server was 14 years old. The amount of crap/drama he stirred up was stupid, from downright lies to slander.

Age> gender when it comes to drama. Everytime. Unless if there is a enforced age restriction, then it is maturity that is the biggest cause of drama.

Haha, indeed. At least IME guys are just as capable of throwing temper tantrums.
Some guy on the LTT forums recently made a huge deal about how he was ever so
competent when it came to giving advice, that he had a huge number of product data
in his head and done extensive research etc. blabla.

Funny thing was, he was not utterly incompetent actually, but he just thought he
deserved way more praise than he actually got (plus, once folks started to notice his
sensitive ego they started trolling him endlessly of course). So he started making
dedicated threads about how underappreciated he was and so on. I lost track of him
after that because I just can't be bothered with that kind of crap, but I recently heard
that he eventually got the ban hammer.

My point being: Guys/gals are different, sure, and it's entirely possible that your
experience has been skewed towards girl-drama. But such has not been my experience,
is all I'm saying. ;)

People act and speak very differently when under the guise of internet anonymity. There are an awful lot of keyboard warriors out there, and even more who will smack talk you over a microphone. All will equally get the same treatment from me. Just ignore them, that seems to be what annoys them the most.

then it is maturity that is the biggest cause of drama.

Or lack of it.

I game a lot on my console as most of my friends aren't as techy as me so a console suits them better when it comes to gaming.

A game we play allows the player to customise their in-game id badge and invariably some decided to write profanity or draw pornographic images (penises, vaginas etc)
Now even though the game is rated 18+, the makers of the game remove these and bar the user from the editor for a short period. Que the massive 'outrage' on the game's official forum.
One user wrote "It's meant to be a mature game why shouldn't we be able to put what we want on? (this particular user was banned for drawing a penis inserted into an arse)

The reply after was "Yes it is a mature game, but there's nothing mature about drawing pornographic scenes."

not even gonna lie, i love to be immature at times. i've never been banned for it though and i sure as hell never made a whole lot of drama about it.

Does anybody play Black Ops 2 on console, you know how you can create your own emblem, well you'll notice 90% of them are boobs, or butts. They speak on the mic and they are like 12 years old lol. O.o

In my experience it's not the girls who're the issue, it's those who react to the presence of the fairer sex. Speaking over the mic is not uncommon, but as soon as you hear a girl's voice it seems as though everyone's interested in fooling around. It's disheartening to say the least.

Never come across females in games myself, but when you hear them on YouTube all the boys go nuts. The trolling videos are funny actually, a male acting the opposite and the boys for some reason try to 'attract' the 'female' stranger in a videogame, then the natural deep voice comes out "You like c*** do you?!" hahaha. One of their replies was "Oh s*** not again!" :')

I think I like that PR department. :D

It's not just in gaming, I have encountered this everywhere where you have lots of
single males and few available girls. For example, at college (engineering degree) or
in the army. I must admit I've felt ashamed for my part of the species more than
once, male behavior is often downright pathetic in these situations. :(
