GeForce GTX 480 Serious competitor for best value GPU on the market.

It gives the consumer a different card to think about, 10% is nothing in real world gaming, especially with AMD's really high frame latency, forget about that one?

I am basing my opinion of raw performance and real prices.

7870 is a great card, i admit it myself, but the price of the 480+matured almost perfect drivers is worth it to some people, and heat and noise is well overblown about these cards.

Power consumption is high with GCN too, but of course, we shall not mention the throttling that goes on when stressed to their limits, including the Nvidia 500/600 series.

Power consumption will not make that much of a difference for a casual gamer, i am surprised that you Tom are saying anything like this in all honesty.

I understand your voice on the noise and heat output, but power consumption?

A person should be buying a 5470 if it is that bad.

I really don't get why you are still trying to argue, the 7870 LE is clearly a much better card than the 480, as well as that but it is much newer so the drivers for it are only going to get better, And as me and Tom have already said, it is a cooler, quieter and more efficient card

30 beans has the last say in it, it is not worth 10%, and cooler and more power efficient mean nothing in the grand scheme of GPU's, the 480 is acceptable as it is..

Would be different if a 660 was at that price......

Less performance than a 480, but better power consumption and thermals?

All i ever see written about the 480...LOL

I will not start with the advantages of Nvidia's architecture either, and the nice application support.

I don't get what you are saying about the 660? The 7870 LE isquite abit better than the 660, tbh mate, you seem to be the only fanboy here, despite the fact that the LE is clearly a better card and it runs cooler etc you still say the 480 is a better choice

7870 is more money, and 10% faster, how does that make it better? incoming heat and noise, which is not an issue, then power consumption?

Not a fanboy, just stating facts...

Do you have a 7870? i would love to bench vs it at stock clocks.

Not to mention that it is 3 years nearly 3years newer meaning that the drivers will only get better, also all the benches I have been looking at are stock clocks.

And the 7870 may be 10% better but the Tahiti LE should be about 20-25% better, well worht the extra £25 and tbh even if it was £50 more I would still have it over the 480

I know you have a 7870 now.... so why are you not taking up my offer?

The 480 will be benched on 310.70 (latest and best driver for my 480)

I have over 250 games on steam, pick a few, i will bench upto 2560x1600 too.

I really doubt it is 25% faster if it was benched vs the 480 on latest drivers, maybe 10% but not 25%.

Sorry but I do not have a 7870, I am just going by what the benches online say and tbh dude I really cba anymore, both me and Tom who I should think knows adamn bit more than you have told you the Tahiti LE is a far better card that runs cooler, quieter, more efficiently etc. We have given you all the facts yet you have choosen not to accept them.

Gooday sir

Well you have obviously missed some facts yourself, i never said the 480 was more efficient, and never said it ran cooler, i said it is not an issue, which it is not...

Anyway, i will provide real benchmarks, and then we shall see what the 480 can do on the latest drivers, the CPU will be my 4500mhz 2500k.

I never said that you did, all I said was the the Tahiti LE was, and maybe not to you but to most people, heat and noise is a big factor when picking a gpu, as I said the LE is clearly a better card and if you want to be all fanboy about it then fine but don't tell me what I know isn't true

I knew what i was in for before i made this thread anyway....

In reality, the 480 is what i stated it to be, but people will downplay it.

I explained this through both threads.

Ahh well, all holds true.

I am just telling how it is,
i would be the last to "downplay"(not sure what that is) a NvidiA card :D
but i have not read both threads yet , i will do mate !!!

LOL, no impact to performance going from 4x to 8x MSAA in crysis???

Man..... the only way that it´s beneficial buying a gtx480 it´s buying on the second hand market for half the Price or less!! why do i buy a new graphics card that has 3 years old technology for almost the same Price of a new 7870?!!

Got to agree with this, great deal if you can find a cheap one, but at the end of the day the price diffrence between the 480 and the 7870 doesn't make the 480 worth it. As said previously the 480 has near perfect drivers now, which means the performance wont increase in the coming years. the 7870 however will continue to get better over the coming years as new drivers are released. The money saved in power bills from having a super power efficient card like the 7870 will make up the 25£ in a few months.

I think the way to sum up the 480 is that if you bought one back when it came out and still have it and you still get decent frame rate then that's great but if you are going out to buy a new graphics card you would be mad to get an inferior, hotter, louder, power hungry card just to save £25
