Not sure why they made a ROG 760 *Single GPU* card but here's some info, Sorry it leads off site but there is way too much info to just do a copy-paste, Editing jobby

==========================

In this article we review the ASUS GeForce GTX 760 Striker Platinum, this particular model comes with a customized cooling solution. That boils down to a silent product versus and more than excellent cooling performance. The DirectCU based heatsink uses a Vapor Chamber with flattened heatpipes. The proprietary CoolTech fan combines the advantages of axial and radial fan. This ROG Striker GTX 760 Platinum Gaming Graphics Card comes with an all customized PCB with the card being optimized for overclocking. The card 11-inch long card will come with 4GB of graphics memory and an 8-phase power design with a MOS heatsink. The card will take a seat on the Republic of Gamers arena, indicating this will be a high-end design and class product. From the product photo you can see an improved cooler showing that ASUS might be moving await from the old design DirectCU II cooling.
The GeForce GTX 760 is to be considered a mainstream to high-end product, yet comes at a competitive price with the very same chip used in the GeForce GTX 670 and GTX 680. And also a year ago, they where the second and top high-end graphics cards. As such the card remains very interesting in terms of performance. See the GK104 GPU itself being used will have two shader cluster disabled. This gives the GK104 GPU 1152 CUDA cores to work with, with in total, 96 texture and 32 raster operating units. The GPU being used is actually tagged as GK104-225 A2. The graphics card also has slightly slower clock frequencies than big daddy GTX 680. However the (reference) GTX 760 comes with a Boost clock which is set at 1033 MHz. The core clock frequency (again - for the reference products) is 980 MHz with the 256-bit DDR5 memory clocking in at 6008 MHz.

Board partners will be free to launch their own SKUs, all pimped and beefed up, and that's where we start the next chapter. So meet the ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 760 Striker Platinum edition. The top of the card has a Color-coded Load indicator. Clock frequencies you can expect the card to launch at a 1150 MHz Boost clock frequency with a memory clock at 6008 MHz (effective data-rate). Monitor connectors will be 2x DVI, one DisplayPort (1.2) and one HDMI. This it is going to be one heck of a product in the mainstream arena alright.
Have a peek and then please go to the next page where we'll continue this review.

Alright... photo's! A couple of pages with photos then and most of it from our own photo-shoot.

And there is, the GeForce GTX 760 ROG Striker Platinum from ASUS and yes, it is a rather cool looking bloke. The card is using an updated revision of ther DirectCU II design, which now uses thicker direct-contact copper heatpipes for pretty good heat dissipation.
index.php
The card is using a dual-slot cooler which uses two silent 90mm fans. An aluminum radiator covers the VRM and even memory area. I know, DirectCU II is a lot of marketing, but the cooler overall brings in good temperatures whilst keeping the card silent. Thats a win-win situation in my book. The cooler has two cooling fans, four nickel-plated heat pipes with at least two 10 mm pipes (three for this model), and a PCB strengthening bracket as well that functions as backplate. ASUS applied dust-proof fan technology that accelerates heat removal to ensure top-notch graphics performance that’s highly stable. The hybrid blade and bearing design, with inner radial blower and outer flower-type blades, provides multi-directional airflow.

With the GeForce GTX 760 you will receive four display connectors, you'll spot a full size Display port connector, one full size HDMI connector and two DVI connectors (dual-link). You can combine these connectors to setup a surround view (multi-monitor) setup. One card will give you more than sufficient performance to play your games on three monitors. To date we still receive this question a lot, but dual-link DVI does not mean you can hook up two monitors to one connector. Dual-link means double the signal, that way monitor resolutions over 1920x1200 can be supported or you could use a 120Hz monitor. So explained very simple, dual-link DVI supports high-resolution (above 1920x1200) or high-refresh rate (120Hz) monitors.

ASUS offers this card factory clocked for you at 1085 MHz with a Boost clock of 1150 MHz. And as our article will show later on, there's a lot of room left for tweaking as we got this little puppy running stable over 1300 MHz on the boost frequency. More on that later though.

index.php

The card is just over 11 Inches in length which is like 28.5 cm (including cooler). With this size it should be an easy fir to position in most mid-tower and bigger PCs really.

index.php
If we rotate the card and look at the backside we can see two SLI connectors offering you to double up your rendering performance if you wanted to do that. This GeForce GTX 760 will have a maximum power design of give or take 170 Watts, but they are made to overclock as well. Cool back-plate BTW. Lots of gaps and spaces for the backside of the PCB to vent air.
index.php
The card comes with one 150W 8-pin PEG (PCI EXpress Graphics) connector and then a 75W 6-pin PEG connector. Another 75 to 150 Watts is delivered though the PCI slot and thus motherboard. This should be enough for a decent overclocking session.
index.php
The top of the card has a Color-coded Load indicator. In this article we'll also look at performance based on high-end yet more moderate processors and then on the X79 platform with an overclocked Core i7 3960X running at 4600 MHz. Here we see the card as tested today installed on our test bench.
index.php
So overall you are going to witness some pretty interesting stuff in the article. BTW on the baclside there is a LED lit PCB trace, that looks pretty cool really.

Just why?

I'd understand a 770 or a 280x ROG striker blah blah blah just about but a 760? Doesn't make any sense. The 760 is an average card now.
Also my mate's Palit 760-non ref thingy clocks waaay higher than this.

It's just a cash grab like so many things nowadays :(

Its Asus. Good products but ROG is overpriced. I personally don't think I'd buy ROG branded stuff ever. This just proves my point that it's slowly becoming the next razer. Get any old crap, make it look pretty (this card IS a beaut) and you've got no end of people cuing up to buy it. Oh, and don't forget to add alot of extra numbers to the price tag.

It bugs me no end, but thats how everything is today.

So true, I really hope they don't end up being another Razer, I would have to switch out again ^_^

How Pretty, but I don't get the point. I have a 760 already, and would not buy another just to get this look. Next step for me is more performance via SLI or 780TI cards. It really should be 780TI based like the Matrix.

They can only really have 1 x 780 Ti in their "ROG" category that's why I'm guessing they did this to try and cover as many areas as possible, Now they have the 760, 760 Mars, 780 Poseidon and the 780 Ti Matrix Platinum, Just missing something in the 770 range.

The price is in line with all other 760's at £210 with tax so that's actually not bad.

I strongly agree considering that they still have yet to release their 770 Poseidon and that the 280x matrix is gone. Honestly they should make a 290x with superior cooling compared to the Directcu, a 770 striker, a 790 mars, and a dual 770 mars.

so ROG just mean over-angle-designed and over-engineered looks.. sorry but that's f'ugly

Ive had hold of one of these today its basically a £210 Matrix look a like.

SuB you liked the 780 Ti this is just a way for someone on a lower budget to get a ROG card.... I quite like it and if my spidey senses are right it will do pretty well.

Can your spidey senses give Asus a nudge to hurry up with the *780 Ti Matrix* stock ^_^

Its a pretty safe bet it will do very well, it is ROG branded and that has a huge fan base however that price is daft for a 760...

The 290X is the delay, the Nvids are ready........

Ahh sweet, So I guess they ship out at the same time then ? Makes sense, Thanks guv :)

Pre-ordered mine a week'ish ago, Can't wait for the email "Your order has been dispatched" ^_^

That price actually falls in line with most of the other 760's, Like the Inno3D GeForce GTX 760 iChill HerculeZ 3000, Gainward Phanom and the MSI OC Gaming Edition is actually more expensive and costs £240, According to the conversion price anyway the Striker should be a little less.
