I was sent by Tom lol..
Hi all My names Gareth.
I don't know if I'm doing this correctly but here goes anyway,
I'm a massive PC tech fan always been. Over the past year or so that love has grown considerable. From only having a passion in PC system Building Gaming etc. I now having a new passion for Both Video and Picture editing.
Witch kind of leads me to my RYZEN Build I first caught on about RYZEN about a year back I honestly at the time didn't have the money to build a high end Intel or AMD System so what I did as build a budget AMD PC and upgrade as I went with the plan to use some parts in my next build i.e. SSD PSU GPU..
Witch now lead to where I am currently.
The parts I have chosen so far are as followed:
CPU } RYZEN R7 1800X.
MOTHERBOARD} MSI XPOWER X370 TITANIUM.
MEMORY} T-force gaming series vulcan ddr4 3000 X2 8GB in GREY.
STORGAE/SSD} HYPERX SAVAGE 240GB X2.+WD BLACK 1TB
GPU} MSI GAMING X RX 480 4GB- I do wish id gone for the 8GB version now in all fairness I shall most like upgrade this when RX Vega arrives depending on price performance etc..
PSU}FRACTAL DESIGN EDISON 550WATT 80+GOLD. I will be upgrading this soon after the systems build most likely.
CASE}I haven't totally made my mind up as of yet as I'm looking for a case that's completely white if can find one. The cases I do like but have a black enterer. i think the PHANTEKS P400 in White or the Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX Tempered Glass
CPU COOLER} (AIR/AIO???) I'm honestly unsure as of yet I may go air to start and then compare with an AIO after I have a good idea of how the AIR cooler performs.
FANS}4X Corsair HD120 RGB.
I will then Upgrade the PC s I go With an M.2 Drive for my main storage. Better GPU when Vega arrives..

I'm looking to have the build built around the 20th to 27th of this month so I'm exited to say the least ill drop a link to my YouTube channel just bellow. in my channel description it explains what I wanted to do with it to start with and also moving forward.
Thanks so much if you have taken the time to read this.
I will update this post as I Receive the Parts in I should have the 1800X in tomorrow as I had a email not to long saying it was on it way..
I'm Waiting on Overclockers UK to get motherboard in but no rush right this second as I get to plan it out that little bit more.
So for now that is all, I shall update this as I go Thanks again for taking the time and sorry if i have completely messed this up.. lol I tried.. My Channel link bellow..

Welcome Gareth !

Looks like a nice rig there, though I am with you, I would get a larger PSU.

Thank You for Welcome and info mate, Much appreciated also I do agree,
PSU defiantly is the weak link. My main aim really, Is to try and give the 1800X the best eco system possible if that makes sense and then see how it then performed in Certain situations i.e. AIR/AIO/FULL CUSTOM LOOP. Long way away for me right now due to the tests id like to get done with this system first. But that is the aim,
I did want to go for the (Leadex Platinum 750W Fully Modular "80 Plus Platinum" Power Supply) Not just because its white of course lol, Does help in all honesty for me.
I've watched a couple of PSU Reviews of Toms now so I had a good idea these were both efficient and a top quality product. So that is the PSU ill be going for I was going to put that off a little while but if your advising me to maybe look at something else ill shall take that on-board fully..
I did want to carry over as much as possible but I'm starting to realise ill most likely end up with none of my old build in the system lol SSDs Maybe GPU for While.
Thanks again for checking it out and for taking the time to read this.

Are you going for a white build then? if so I would consider the Asrock Taichi motherboard. Also wait for reviews on the 1700 and 1700x before you buy. It's likely they will offer much better value.

Both of those would leave more cash for a better PSU for example.

I totally understand what your saying mate nearly went that route ,
But I've already got my heart set on the MSI motherboard a look I want and I just don't want to think a few months down the line I wish id of just paid that bit more and got the full fat 1800X,
Bit daft I know but I did do that with the RX480 when going for the 4GB Version and almost instantly regretted it.
I know it not the same but I didn't want that feeling again,
That why didn't I just buy the 8GB Version when I had the chance, I could be planning Crossfire setup to go with it now lol still bothers me see lol..
I do fully understand your point though.
And yes sorry White is the main colour I've only just realised I didn't mention it. I did want the P400 but all in white or the Enthoo EVOLV,
I'm seriously considering jut getting the interior powder coated white as it doesn't cost much at all locally..
But again it pushes it back a tad longer.

Might be a bit premature to say, but it is looking right now like these chips are all exactly the same. Same BINs possibly.

So yeah, I would definitely wait to see how they overclock.

G'day and Welcome to the forums and looks like you are going to have a nice rig at the end there mate and you are deffo gonna want either a H100 or better or an X52/62 AIO

This is definitely one to sit and wait on for a few weeks. Keep your money safe and keep adding to the pot if you can.

Right now youll need to be spending a lot of money on cooling if you want a quiet rig

BuGGzLuVa GAMING RYZEN BUILD.V2.0 UPDDATE TO THREAD..

Hi all id just like to say thank you again for the warm welcome and sorry I haven't been on to update the thread I don't really want to go into to much detail but a family member sadly passed away so I've been spending some time with me mom and other in all honesty my head was a tad all over the place.
I wasn't going to say but I felt bad so may as well be honest.

So for the build I have changed my mind on a few thing really mainly the colour originally I did want the build to be completely white.
looking into this further I couldn't find a completely white case inside and out so I was left with two options choose a case I like and get inside powder coated whilst it actually doesn't cost to much in my area I am starting to really need my RYZEN build to be up and running.
The plan now is to use the Phanteks Eclipse P400S Glass Midi Tower Case in White with the idea as a future project to get the inside completely powder coated white also. This should all tie in later in this post with the upgrade path for some of the components. I will be using the Corsair HD 120 I will be needing 5 of them.

The CPU is the R7 1800X I have pondered over sending it back to get either the 1700X OR 1700 in the end I just thought well its here now if I send it back I have to wait a good while before I Received the replacement.
I would also like to see what I can get out of it.
Performance wise my use wont just be for Gaming I will need the horsepower for Gaming/Live streaming/Video editing.

CPU Cooler now this is something I have changed my mind on I previously planned on Air cooling the Build with the idea to see how much of a difference it really would make. But due to the temps at this moment in time I think id be better off going for a tried and tested Hydro Series H110i Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler.

The motherboard I have decided to go for is the ROG Crosshair VI Hero AMD X370 for a few reasons really the main one being the bios update support as I have watched all the Reviews that Tom has done on the AM4 Boards so far and that one does stand out to be the most optimized.
I did plan on getting the MSIXpower Titanium X370 I will wait for Toms Review on that before I make my mind up completely but right now I'm leaning towards the ASUS board more.

Memory wise I have a couple of issues really as I haven't completely decided on the motherboard. And I would really like to get a set on the compatibility list for said motherboard. I do have a set of Team group Vulcan 16GB DDR4 3000Mhz I'm just not sure on Compatibility as of yet.

GPU I have gone for is the MSI Gaming X RX480 I will be reusing this from my previous build. With the aim to upgrade this in the near future to VEGA I will only be gaming at 1080p 1440p at present so it fine for time being.

Storage I will be reusing my HYPER X Savage 240 SSD. and adding a WD BLACK 1TB HDD. With the aim in the near future to double up on my SSD and Upgrade M.2 SSD drive as my system storage and editing software etc.

For the PSU I have gone for the Leadex Platinum 750W Fully Modular "80 Plus Platinum" Power Supply - White.
Again I have watched a few of Toms PSU Reviews and this brand does stand out for both quality and looks in the current case I've chosen the PSU is not visible but prior to the case being powder coated I plan on Modding the shroud to show of the light from the PSU CABLES.

So this is the build I will be going with I plan on starting it the 30th of this months. Also I will update the Thread with picture over the next two weeks as all the parts arrive.

Thanks again all and Tom for Welcoming me to the forum. and again I am sorry for the delay in my replying to the messages I received.
I now have my mojo back and plan on going full steam ahead with the project.

Thanks mate that's much appreciate.
I am full on it now she would of wanted me to do the best I could at what ever I did and to of been happy.
I did appreciate Tom inviting me over to write a post on my build and in all honesty I'm a fan of his work so that meant a lot and I didn't want it to seem like I was doing it half arsed kind of thing.

Very much appreciated that mate thank you.
I'm looking forward to building the System, I will finally be able to do what I want both Game capture and Video editing wise.
I have Taken a few pictures with some of the parts ill be using and my current setup ill have to add the links to the thread a little later.

Firstly my condolences on your loss, secondly there is really no need to apologise fella we are all family oriented here so family comes first. Take all the time you need and remember should you ever need to talk or vent there is always a sympathetic ear here.

Awww mate thank you.
I should be ok but if I do, I know there will be somebody here to listen. That's nice to know cheers dude.

Hello, Gareth,
I'd like to offer you my condolences for your loss, and welcome you to the forum.

Strangely, I've been considering a very similar whitish build to yours, employing similar parts, only I'm now leaning toward Intel rather than Ryzen. TTL did a very good comparison of AIO's, and I rather liked the Cryorig A80 with white fans.

Also, i can say having worked in photography and film for many years, with friends who do editing, and design work in advertising, that *IF* you're not editing photographs and videos for a living, and you're not rendering heavy SFX, then you probably don't need a high-end platform, and other areas offer you better value for your investment. You need to be free to run the applications like Photoshop, Avid, InDesign, and Illustrator, and explore and learn the programs, and develop your workflow. In that case, something the Ryzen 1700 looks to be a very good buy, with lots of headroom. That said, for other activities, you may find having a different or higher end platform would provide valuable advantages that you want/need.

(Hi iSaff) Thanks for your kind words mate and checking out the post.
I totally agree with everything your saying in all honesty I'm no pro at editing right now I don't do it for a living but on the other hand its something I do really enjoy both Video And picture editing,
Witch I would like to incorporate that into my YouTube channel for future content I plan to create.
Its going to take time for me to master all things editing wise I'm more than willing to learn though and work as hard as needed to master it.
I've gone from just last year having no real interest nor idea how id go about creating the content in the way I imagined it to look.
To now knowing my way around enough to create any Video I want in all honesty,
I've just not had the system to either Capture Gameplay at a high enough quality nor edit it efficiently,
My current system struggles while editing or playing Games at points and while I understand I didn't have to go to these lengths to get improved performance in needed. In all honesty I'm a PC TECH/GAMING enthusiast like all here really and to say I'm exited is a understatement,
To have a system such as this is a dream for me really, Has been for a while.
I'm seeing it as a long term project for the My Channel and for me to learn while having a system that wont hold me back in anyway what so ever.
I feel really bad as I keep listening to what people are saying but not taking the advice.
I have an image of the build in my head I can appreciate id get better cost to performance if I went for a less price CPU, Motherboard etc.
I had been thinking about this build a good year now and had my heart set on building a RYZEN system with the RYZEN 7 1800X at the heart of it.
The way it would look in general,
Thank you though for the info and advice the build I plan to use for years to come so at some point soon I'm hoping it will be getting used to it full potential, This wont be the last iteration of the Build I plan on continually Upgrading it from upgrading the storage config to GPU ill be using, Cooling etc. If I learn anything I think maybe helpful to other ill share as that's my goal really to be able to help others to so to be an early adopter of the RYZEN platform is key to that also.
Sorry if I've just rambled on I do struggle sometimes to get my point across in all honesty, I hope I did at least do that sows to give you an idea of the reasoning for the parts I have selected.
Again I do feel bad to seem like I'm ignoring your advice so sorry if it seems that way I'm honestly not I just had my heart set on the build as is.
The plan is tomorrow to order all the random bits and bobs case etc. Next week I shall go pick up the motherboard with the idea then to start the build I will document every step on here so please do stay tuned for updated coming soon.
I would just like to say thank you all for the welcome you've all given me. And to the legend him self Mr Tom Logan for sending me over of course.
Also just to touch on the colour of the pc I did originally want it all to be white but I couldn't find a completely white case nor could I get it powder coated in a good enough time the finally version of this PC will be completely white as that was the goal originally but motherboard choice case etc. has put that off slightly.

Hello Gareth, I found your thread very intriguing, as our builds cross over at many points, so it was a pleasure to read.

Please don't feel bad, my comments were less advice, and more my perspective/experience, which i offered only because in a previous post you appeared to be considering the other chips. i thoroughly appreciate the anticipation of bringing your vision to life as an enthusiast, and your thought process appears entirely reasonable.

Personally, i'm very new to building a PC, and I've also run into similar issues with the white build idea i originally had in mind. It's now more a white case (P400s) & white PSU (Leadex II) build. And even that may change. So I'll definitely be following your build, the choices you make, and experiences of your build, to help me determine mine at the end of the month. So no pressure or anything.

My best for tomorrow, and I'm sure I'll see you around.

Saff
