One of my friends commissioned me to help him build his first real gaming rig. Since this was his first foray into PC gaming and wanted as much staying power with his rig as possible while he learned more about it.
System name: Gatsu
Specs:
Intel i5 4670K @ 4 Ghz
ASRock Z87 Extreme6
8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600 Mhz (running @ 1866 Mhz)
Gigabyte Windforce GTX 770
Corsair H80i
Cooler Master Storm Scout 2
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD
Rosewill Capstone 650W 80+ Gold PSU
SUPER sorry aboot the crap pictures... lighting is always terrible at my place, and all I have at present is my crud camera on my phone, but now that money is settling I should be able to get a proper camera soon.
(yes I am aware that the case badge looks tacky, even on the inside... what can I say, he likes his bling x-P)
The main issues I ran into with this build were:
1. One of the H80i fans had a bit of a rattle to it. Thankfully by reducing the RPM's on the fans it largely went away, but we are keeping an eye on it all the same
2. One of the fans on the GTX 770 had a rattle to it. THAT one really annoyed me, since I only had two days to assemble, tune and test the system for this guy, and I really didn't feel like having to tell him that he can use it, just not for gaming... like... at all x-). SO I messed with the fan speeds and ramping them up a bit seemed to actually calm down the rattling. I think it may have had something to do with some of the lubricant not being properly distributed or something, but that is also something that we are keeping an eye on (I also advised him to register the card as SOON as he could just in case).
3. The motherboard had a corrupt BIOS. Thankfully it runs dual BIOS so it wasn't really an issue per say since he won't be using the dual BIOS option anyway, but it bugged out on me after I updated to the newest BIOS revision. The second one (thankfully) did not have this problem.
