Gameplay recording problem

Hello smart people,

first off, hope this is the right place to put it, sorry if not.
So I usually record while playing with friends,
used to do that in 720p because my upload speed was quite bad
now since my up speed is quite good, I tried to record in 1080p
Doesn't really work, i usually get only about 14-20 recording frames (not ingame fps that is)
A sidebar gadget says that the currently used write speed while recording in 1080p is about 35 - 40 MB/s, which obviously is not enough for 1080p 30fps
Although while recording 720p, a steady 80 MB/s gets used and the recording frames are steady 30
Crystal Disk Mark also says that the writespeed of the HDD is about 120, far from 40 lol
Used hardware is in my signature, i don't record on the raid0 array though, it's the 2TB WD green
Used software is Dxtory

I'd be glad if anyone could help me get the 1080p recording working
hope there's enough information provided, sorry if not

What game you playing?
The thing i found with dxtory, if it hasn't got enough CPU cycles to transcode the content it just drops frames and spirals to doom.. If anything chokes, be it the drive, the cpu or something else dxtory doens't like it at all, Are you recording to the same drive that your game is on? (if so this can cause problems).

1080p content recording is quite a bit higher demand than 720p so it could just be maxing out.

Have you considered streaming it with something like xsplit / twitch and using it's saved footage to use? There aren't really many solutions that you can do on the gaming rig itself that won't make you lose performance/quality somewhere apart from something like an avermedia card that has built in transcoding and auto shrinks files etc have you considered (I know it's a bit much) building a secondary rig just to record with?

I'm coming up with options because you don't want to use fraps (for whatever reason that is?) since fraps is kinda the 'go-to' for recording on the game platform..

Game is Battlefield Bad Company 2, it's on a different drive and my CPU isn't even at 100% load while playing + recording :|
Saving stream footage is not really an option, since the bitrate is just 3mbit or something, can't really stream with 50 lol
Buying a 2nd rig just for recording is kinda retarded and not really worth it imo.
Friends of mine with similar specs have no problem recording 1080p

I don't want to use fraps because dxtory has just so many options i really like
also fraps locks your framerate, which dxtory doesn't
