Game Leaks, Anyone Else Getting Bored Of Them ?

After having a brief look through my Steam list I realized not 1 game in the past 5 years+ has actually come out and we've been genuinely surprised about it.

All these "Inside Leaks" are annoying, I'd prefer it if there were a lot less "Leaks", I want to be surprised when a game gets announced or released I don't want to know everything about the game before it gets released, Spoils the whole thing in my opinion.

I know you don't have to look at the leaks but hey, Only human.

Anyone else feel the same way, Should leaks become a thing of the past ?

Problem with zero leaks is then people have no time to get interested in the game at release its just kind of.. there. People will ask google "whats xxxxxxx about??" or something along those lines. Then a few brave souls will buy the game. Record/review gameplay post on youtube, comment trolls bag it/few like it, few more people buy it, not enough to create profit. Where as a leak allows the dev to make more interest in the game and gauge when to release it or provide more details. Just my quick take on it.

Pretty damn sure if these leaks didnt occur they would have more sales on release too.

Many leaks have actually put me off buying. Ok, leaks favour the consumer in this case but thats not what the companies care about right? :)

Has there ever been a game since the start of the internet that didn't get leaked? :p
I don't think there has been one major game that hasn't been leaked years or months before its release.

Personally I don't see the difference between a publisher announcing a game is being released or it getting announced through a leak. Publishers need to announce the games at least a year ahead of it coming out to start a marketing campaign and to build hype for sales though.

I agree with SuB. Example, although WWE 2K15 is a yearly game its the first on next-gen so I' am excited for it. The fact it comes out in October and all we have seen is a few screenshots of Cena/Orton, and their entrances plus Goldust as well is making me now consider cancelling my pre-order.

Also watching Ortons entrance side-by-side with 2K 14's it's identical, apart from his face has fancy new graphics.

Lack of footage, pics could loose them a sale with me soon, probably goes for a lot of others too.

Edit:
Just appauling.

I think we need to get some kind of clear definition between 'leaked' and 'information released'.

Good example, Battlefield hardline that was 'accidentally' 'leaked' by someone internal 'accidentally' sharing their fully complete and already rendered and prepared like all other BF4 announcement content video to the public 'by accident'.

100% bullshit, the whole thing was setup, prepared and orchestrated as a marketing campaign that self substantiated itself via social media and people thinking it was hot-shit news. The story covered itself, it cost them literally nothing to get the word out. This was supposedly over a year before they were ready to announce it.. complete horse shit. The beta went up around a month after the information was 'leaked'... all in an attempt to 'test' it before the release.

I'm sorry but this is classic EA tactics to me.

Leaked information is one thing, but they have to announce a game somehow otherwise no-one is going to know anything about it ?
