Free Backup Software

Hello All,

Does anyone know some good free backup software?

All I want to do is copy a select number of folders on my PC to my external HD; but only copy the files if they have changed, and delete the files that I have deleted in those folders. This is because I am backing up, up to 200gb of stuff and want to do it every week.

Don`t quote me on this, but if u look into the good ole WinRAR util (and probably a few others), I think they do something like "replace files if newer" or changed or whatever.

Sooo, what u could do is select all the folders, archive them. Then when u do it again use that option.

Set the strength of the packing to low or `storage` or something.

Bet u could write a script for the commandline too and make a bat file - just click it to do u`r backup

Can't you use the back up program that comes with windows? I think it is brilliant.

not sure if xcopy will have all the options you need, i know it has a copy updated files only. Goto your command prompt and type xcopy /? for a list of command line switchs.

Oh hell yeah, this works like a charm! Just took me 3 minutes to back up my 200gb because it only copied over the modified and new files, deletes the deleted files and renames the renamed files on my desktop in the folders I wanted.
