The Corsair Gigabyter!

I GOT IT!!!!!

I got the system Friday afternoon late. I tried to get a pic of the UPS guy but the camera was slow to boot and acted up. He drove off before I got it fixed. I'd had the batteries and card out and it does that sometimes first boot after doing that, I should have had it ready to go. Oh well. I'll just go ahead and post pics and comment before the pics. Long story, but I have had a lot going on at home and a glitch that delayed me getting pics on until now. One thing, find the special size USB cable for my camera, I never used it, have a card reader in the old system. Look at the bottom after the pics for a follow up.

Went to the door and this is what I found after the doorbell rang, the UPS guy was already in the truck leaving.

More to this pic than appears, more on that later. Note the upper shelf I had to make spacers with some left over oak, guess I got it right.

Maybe some noticed a couple things, here is one.

I didn't notice until standing back, the case set a tad wonky. First pic does not show well the severity. Second pic before I grabbed a straight edge and tweaked a tad more with the plastic coated handle of a huge set of Channel Locks.

Final pic. Put in the new 1 TB I traded for and the bottom drive is the Seagate boot drive out of my old system so I can transfer stuff off of it. Just used a file transfer program to copy most of the drive to a folder on the 1 TB. Have to play with permissions on the drive to be able to access and transfer other files. That will be later today, have much to do today outside the house, so later. I had not put on the SATA cables yet and neatened up the cables. Thought I better take a pic before I forgot.

I'm am happier than I even I can explain. The rough trip it appears to have had is not going to break my heart. I have to think, this is a hell of a lot more than I was supposed to get! The bent feet are just and straight now as they would have been when new. The dent in the front bezel, I have a couple ideas on that. I have some PVC trim board that would fit in the corner on the inside and with some gentle hammering I may be able to knock it out...the other thought is taking it to an old mate who is the best body man around and have him try it. When we had golf ball size hail here once he was the go to guy to bang the deep round dings out of cars and not need a respray. I think this would be easy for him, if he has the time though, he is always very busy. He owes me he says, I have sent business his way and fixed an office computer for him, simple fix, but he thought I was a genius. :) I am, but it was easy. Another couple glitches...when I booted it reset the BIOS, so Tom's overclocking work is gone. It said there is an BIOS Error and will reset all settings to default. No big deal, it can be redone. I'm not worrying about it, I need to get things on the system first, then once all is done, then it can be taken care of.

I have more to say, but can't right now. When I can I'll fire up some stuff to bench and show what is set to what and so on. For one thing it is 8:06 AM here and I have to get in the shower and get going.

still looking great and im very happy your happy and like you said it can be taken care of great work on straitening the handle/feet :D

Wow, that's long! Depending on what it is, I get my stuff from the US usually within about two weeks (mostly eBay things); the Caselabs case I ordered took about 10 days from door to door.

Anyway: This is awesome, wish you happiness and joy with your new beauty! :)

Really glad to see that thing arrived without too much damage. At least it's nothing unfixable. I'm really happy for you mate!

THANK YOU EVERYBODY! For now I have decided to leave that dent in the front bezel. I told UkGouki basically the other day, "It is a military based case, looks to have been in battle." Nobody goes into battle and comes out pristine, I have too many mates that came back bent.

I'm getting there transferring things. With attention deficit disorder I wander off doing something on the web and not sticking to the task of getting thing moved. I have the primary drive from the old system copied so I can remove it and I need to put the secondary drive from the old system in to copy it. The first was a pain due to those stupid Windows directory permission you have to change to be able to access them. The second drive has none of that, so will be a straight copy. The drive I have I was going to put in an external case for back-ups I'm for now going to put in the system...still use it for back-ups, just internally installed.

One of the nicest things about the system besides hardware is the boot time. With this SSD I'm ready to go in no more than 10 seconds and that is with several start-up programs. My old system, literally would take 2 minutes to boot and then it was not totally settled down, it was slow going starting anything the first few minutes. Now I don't mind shutting the system down when I leave or go to bed.

Going to shut down now after I take care of my Pet Refuge listserv admin duties and my admin duties on the Pet Refuge Facebook page and then I'll swap in the second old hard drive to copy it.

HA HA HA

Even though it's not really funny (I think) I have to admit I was very amused at FredEx' phrasing as well . Sometimes, grim circumstances just require a certain linguistic touch (People's reactions to my jokes about my health are sometimes downright hilarious. They feel bad for laughing but just can't help it, and they're totally unsure how to react when I start laughing. ).

ontopic: I'd keep the dent as well.
