ladies and gentlefolk i have an ax1200 and jeepers oh is the fan on this thing loud. no cap whine just a loud fan that spins always. thats the way its always been but i though the humming could have been a bad fan but its not. my noctuas are using the lna cord and the psu fan is obviously the problem. is this a common thing for big wattage psus even when idle. ou guys have any experience with this issue

The AX1200 fan should only spin at 20% load. My AX850 even running games most of the time won't even spin up...

I think there's something wrong with your unit. Unless you're running tri-SLI/Crossfire, I wouldn't have thought the fan would even spin up at all if I'm honest.

Corsair are well known for putting some seriously cheap fans in otherwise great PSU's.

Just swap the fan out for a quieter one. It's very simple.

I dont recommend this while still under warranty, it would be better to contact corsair about it and see what they can do for you.

There is nothing they can or will do about it, as the problem is not due to a faulty product.
It is simply due to the fact that Corsair use really crappy fans in most of their PSU's. Even the high end ones. It is how they make them.

The ONLY way you can fix it, is to change the fan to a quieter one. Or buy a different PSU.

The good news is that it is VERY simple to do and unless you go in there with a pickaxe there is no way you can mess it up.
And since it is a product with a very low failure rate, you are not likely to ever need the warranty anyway.

If the PSU is still within warranty, I personally would be inclined to contact Corsair. Despite what someone else has implied, Corsair do take complaints very seriously. I own and run 3 Corsair psu's, and none of them display that kind of behaviour. The only time they are heard is momentarily upon powering up the pc. Hope you get sorted.

I applied for rma and its standard procedure but they want me to send it to them first. The last time I sent something away I didnt have a pc for near a month. Im going to see if they will send a replacement first prob wont happen but if you dont ask you dont get

I RMA'd some memory to them a few years back and I was quite surprised how quickly it was dealt with. I hope the same happens for you :D

Knowing their general costumer service, I'm sure they will just send you a new one.
But knowing that PSU, I'm also sure you will have the same issue with the new one.

Everyone who has ever had one can tell you that it is nowhere near quiet (perhaps except for those who have other, even louder parts). Google it and you will realize that this is normal.

It has a cheap Yate Loon fan that I honestly would not even call rubbish. It is well below rubbish standard and Corsair should be ashamed of themselves for putting such a horrible fan in a PSU that is otherwise great.

SparkleDJackson , If you go to Customer Care forums and leave a post on Corsair's CCF , I'm sure Gray Beard will get back to you and get the RMA started a little quicker.

Corsair were pretty good about replacing my PSU and they (and I) weren't even sure it was broken, but they said they'd swap it out just in case.

I did have to pay to send the PSU to the Netherlands though (or was it Germany). With something the weight of a PSU that isn't cheap.

i know its not going to be cheap lol it cost me 15 to send a ssd wrapped in bubble wrap lol. the thing weighed as much as a fart and still cost me 15. im pretty sure they have a 7 year warranty so i wouldnt want to do it. i have teh skillz but it aint worth it
