fraps crashes

decided to put fraps on my pc today to record a bit of track action with GRID but whenever I press the hotkey to start recording the whole thing locks up and then it tabs out and i get a screen saying that fraps has crashed.any ideas what could be causing it?

2.9.2 is the version i have,it has always worked fine before
