Fractal - Project CJ

I just think SLI/Crossfire looks good. Whether or not it gives any benefit it just looks right IMO.
Initial setup is good, I'll throw some 3DMark at her once I have the i7 4790K then I'll compare scores to the i5 4440 and GTX 750 Ti, for now the priority is the internal panels and new roof panel, then I'll be concentrating on the lighting and cables.

Right then you beautiful children of tech :)

Progress report:

Painting is now done!
The old system has been butchered and parts transfered to the Define S, the i5 4440 has gone on to live a longer life, she'll be well looked after. I have the i7 4790K coming in (probably Thursday or Friday), I spent longer than I would have liked installing Windows, my office software and programs (all praise fibre optic and SSDs) setting up memory and getting SLI to work.

A quick note for those that may suffer with the same issue I had, with NVIDIA control panel not opening (S.T.A.L.K.E.R not you  ) use DDU and remove all instances of NVIDIA software then click the start menu and type Services and click that, search for "Windows Update Service" switch that bad boy OFF!, then reboot, once loaded back into windows visit NVIDIAs website and download the latest drivers and install... don't forget to reboot again and Control Panel will now be accessable.

Anyway after a huge headache of messing around with setting up the system, I'm now ready to continue on the internal panels for the remainder of this week so expect more updates and splinters

Here is a shot of the colour differences between the original Corsair Dominator Platinum light bars and the freshly gunmetaled along with one of the GTX 950s.

Don't feed the Rick Rolls. Thanks for the tip on update services though. Altho now you mention it I have an old GTX260 I get 2 fps on medium can I have the dx23 pls NVIDIA??

Back on point. Gunmetal is looking awesome. Any plans on changing the exterior? IIRC it was you who came up with a nice Nighthawk design on the H440 stealth rig?

Exterior is getting a new under lit roof panel, which I'll start next week along with the lighting.

Final piece of hardware arrived and installed, the only thing left now are all the cosmetic details. Soon guys real soon ;)

Doesn't appear that it's running too terrible to me mate! Probably better score than I would get, never run it tbh.

Aye it's running real nice and cool too, but that's to be expected at stock :) wait until I've given it some bios treatment and ramp up the clocks ;) She'll sing.

Aye! I can't even begin to fathom the heat out of my cards with any sort of OC. They run near nuclear just during everyday use. #amdprobs

Update: Paneling has begun "again" :/ I had started last week when the i7 arrived but after much measuring and measuring again before cutting, then some more cutting and nothing fits I lost it and spat my dummy out. So chill out achieved and I started again, the rear blanking panel and PSU top panel are now cut and ready, next on the list are the 45 degree angle peices, PSU front cover, front fan panel with angled sections, all these panels are to be sanded, connected and filled perfectly before recieving a coat of primer to give a nice key for adhesive, which will then be wrapped in super smexy neoprene material.

Panels are coming along just right.

Forgive the smudges and finger prints, this was just a test piece of material for colour matching, it's a very deep black not too disimilar to the rubber cable grommets just darker.

Stay tuned, more to come tomorrow.

EDIT: OK so tomorrow came early, I couldn't rest without cutting out all the panels and prepping them for putting together, thankfully I managed all the pieces in one sitting and not a moment too soon as it's now 00:43 so a late shift on the mod has now ended. Tomorrow is now Fit, Trim, Glue day, which will then be followed by gallons of filler and monumental amount of sanding before applying the finishing material

Update:

So today I put the panels together and just a word of warning for everyone "Glue Guns get HOT!" burns were had all round and the OC3D VIPs have been giving me a ribbing for it  I also sadly ran out of time to get the fan openings cut today as it's a little late to be using the dremel so that will have to wait until tomorrow, but both the PSU and front fan panel are built, it's a very tight fit with the PSU cover so the fan panel is going to need a slight rethink to get it in and out easily.

So tomorrow is dremel and trimming of the fan panel and final test fitting before they all get prepped for their fabric covers, then I can move onto the roof panel and look at lighting.

"Glue guns get HOT!"

LAWL so do heat guns, as I sadly found out the other day. Got a nice big ole burn on my forearm.

Looking awesome dude.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT :

Tools and items that produce heat have the thermal properties to induce burning!

Update:

No burns today  although I did set of the home smoke alarm (at least that works) well this is it for all the internal panel cutting.

Started by measuring out all the areas for cutting keeping everything angular to continue the the stealth edge theme,

I didn't have to be too acurate as I have 2 - 3mm tolerances for all the panels.

Because they are tight to get in and out a little filing and trimming was required, it's going to be even tighter once the fabric is applied to each piece, but that was the plan all along for that flush finish.

Initial fitting is spot on and looking good, by happy accident the fan panel actually fits snug over the fans and holds itself :) next is covering the panels in that lovely black fabric for a zero radar signature  I have also started on a new SLI bridge cover, the Acrylic is cut and awaiting filing and glue then it will be sprayed and fixed to the bridge.
