hey, my mate just asked me he got himself them for £20

1gb stick of 675 and 2 x 512mb 800 and asked if they would work on the same board but i told him i wasnt sure and would look about and see

so does anyone know?

what do you mean 675? do you mean 667mhz ram?

They should work but the 800 will run at the lower speed. Its best to use matched pairs tbh dude. I personally wouldnt even mix brands tbh.

the ram says

Corsair XMS2 DDR2 CM2X1024 - 5400C4 4-4-4-12 675 mhz (1 stick of this)

Corsair XMS2 DDR2 CM2X512 - 6400C4 4-4-4-12 800 mhz (he has 2 of these and they are matched)

i agree with you myself i always use matched pairs, and use exactly the same brand, but he bought them so he would have 2gb ram instead of 512mb value not to mention that ddr2 prices are real bad these days, dont think he is too bother about how fast they run just wants more memory

if he puts them in the board i take it he should use the 1gb in the first slot and the 2 512's in the 2 other coloured slots?

cheers

yeah i said not to but he said its just a temp measure till after xmas till he can afford to upgrade his ram and get himself DDR3 (he has an asus p5kc) since thats cheaper these days
