after 4 hours of playing a game it started artifacting again
into the oven it goes again but this time higer temp and longer
edit;
i have an idea, buy vram chips and upgrade from 1.28gb vram to 1.5gb vram and fix the gpu. the pcb is the same as a gigabyte gtx 580 super overclock which has all vram chips present, so this could work :p

A bios mod will be needed, did the same thing years ago with a gtx260

Yes i know. I flashed my gpu with like 20 bioses and it still works (ed) haha.

Its going to be so difficult to replace vram chips but i have nothing to loose. The current vram chips are faulty anyway

edit: my current plan is to just replace all the ram chips equaling to 1.28gb on my graphic card to the higher density ones that evaga used on their gtx 570 equaling 2.5gb, then flash the evaga bios.
I have no idea how much VRAM can a GF110's memory controller handle and i dont think nvidia would share this with me.

lol wtf? they drunk? ^^

well that aside i'm pretty fucked atm, it aaaall began when i noticed the price drops on the intel motherboards. As i posted a few weeks on "Post a picture of your last Purchase thing", i posted that i bought a new Gigabyte Z97 SOC and i could buy an i7 for 50€. Well the stupid me didnt knew much about intel at the though and by now i know that intel works with generations and just an i7 wont do it.. felt so noobish at the time and i still do for not going into intel a bit deeper before buying anything. So now i'm stuck with an intel i7 950, hoping i can get rid of it again.

Now the main thing, i was searching for another intel CPU on a second hand site in the netherlands and i found myself an i7 4970k for just 200€ which are 320€+ when you want a new one. I jumped on it thinking it was a pretty good buy. But i went to fast and didnt handle it quite right.

I Skipped a lot of things and went straight to the buyin arrangements, he giving his bank account number and i sended my adress. And now here's the thing. This ALL happened 2 weeks ago, the arrangements for the 4790k. He told me he had sended it to me BUT i haven't received anything yet. Now i've checked the neighbours, the post office, even the company behind me and none of them got anything delivered on my name.

When i went to the postoffice to ask what i should do, they told me to ask for the send number or tracing number. Now i did that and the person i "bought" it from said he lost that and that his postoffice in the netherlands cant find any information about it.

Now i'm stuck and just dont really know what to do. I'm short on money cause of it and i've got a buyer waiting for the parts i'm still using atm.

One of the biggest FML so far. Shouldn't have been so hasty --"

Pc fire :-(

Fml

My pc went up in flames this Saturday morning when my better half turned it on. She had the sense to kill the power to it and shout for me to come down stairs. i then carried the burning pc outside to put out the flames. Very lucky the house didn't go up.
My question is it looks like the fire started in the fan controller area this came complete with the nzxt phantom case.
Has anyone known these cases give any trouble?
Or do you think fire started else where in system?
All components are fried apart from 1 hard drive that didn't have my good data on it .:(

FML

After a weekend seeing the folks I arrived home in belfast to find a nice little package, my R9 290X. So excited and eager to put it into my system I quickly tested it with the stock cooling and then added the XSPC waterblock that was previously on my 290. I then added it into my system and thats where everything went wrong.

After I initially found no leaks I decided to just turn on my system and have a play. I looked over to my rig to see, you guessed it, coolant all over the motherboard. As fast as lightning I turned off my system from the wall and proceeded to clean up the spill. After cleaning it all up, and leaving it under a few fans for an hour or so I tried to power it on, nothing, not even the led on the boards on/off switch show any life.

So now I'm left without a system, and OC3D is without a NEWS SYSTEM! I have a few spare components here so I might be able to bodge something together tomorrow morning, we'll have to see. I can't believe I was so careless, such a stupid mistake to make.

I've also had a bad flu for over a week now, which is making me feel wonderful (must take all the drugs to function even half competently). Made it to all my classes though, so at least that is something.

FML Tomorrow best be a better day.

WYP that sucks real bad dude, shame I don't have any decent hardware laying around to help you out bud. :(

No need to worry about me bud, I already have a system up and running. It will do rightly for now. I think I'll accelerate my HTPC project an use that as my main rig for a bit.
