Science exam for me in 3 weeks from chemistry and biology :(
I will probably end up leaving revision for the last minute, and i will never actually revise for it

Happened to me last time (though it was just chemistry) and I failed... Now I've managed to scrape a B together :D

It is, I really like my whole course :) This exam is the biggest of the year. Just one more year left till I have my Masters :D

sweet. i still have to find out what university will have to offer for me. currently favoring computer engineering

Awesome :) My housemate does computer science, I don't know if that's the same or similar(?). Are you starting this year or later on?

I'd love to do the lot. Mathematics, physics (both particle physics and astronomy) and computer science. Unfortunately i can only do one.

i could start this year but i'm gonna do another one to get a better degree. also have to wait another year for seekax to finish his degree
not sure about the similarities, would have to look it up myself so you can do that if you're interested

Yeah big decisions :) I'm sure you'd love any of those subjects if that's where your interests lie. I don't know what I'm doing after uni yet but this summer I've got a research placement at DESY's Hamburg site, I'm so excited!

Mind if I ask why you need to wait for him to finish?

what's wrong with a bit of math? what's the main topic?

Let's just say that maths isn't really my thing. Especially when it's about calculating chances and binomial distribution.

To everyone else with exams; Good luck! :D

I am currently reading for a computer engineering degree :) Here in Malta, computer engineering (cce) and computer science (cs) are quite similar, 4 out of 6 subjects are the same in fact, the cs guys are more focused on discrete maths and probability while we (the cce guys) are more focused on the actual hardware that makes up transistors and amplifiers, like mosfets, bjts, capacitors and resistors, cce consists of more electrical physics basically

here's what the university website says
http://www.cs.uni-paderborn.de/en/students/degree-program/computer-engineering.html
did not check if it's properly translated or just done with google

Ahh, that sounds amazing :D

cant bother to read that, just read the intro. after almost a scholastic year doing this course I can honestly say it sounds wayyy(yyyyyyyyyyyy) more interesting than it actually is, it is suppose to be a hardware course, and apart from f'ing maths and physics I haven't done in this course, and then some interesting subjects that are completely unrelated imo, like databases and data structures...

What did you expect? That you would build rigs all day? Of course most of it is just calculating stuff.
Databases are something anyone should be familiar with who works with PCs.

I knew we wouldnt even touch pc hardware, but I can bet you that out of 25 people doing the same course as me (not including the other 100 doing cs, ai, software, etc), dont even know what a pc looks like on the inside, I was excpecting at least some sort of very newbish introduction to different components and their interaction with each other, we only went into detail on ssds and ram, other than that I think its shameful that you have students going into 2nd year (out of 3 years) of a bsc in cce that still think that a pc is the monitor -.- or that the inside of the case is some sort of maze that only a technician that rips you off alive is able to fix :/

I know more about computers than my secondary school IT teacher does, and she even admits it :)
