First custom build.

Hello guys, here's the thing my current PC, a pre-built Packard Bell, while very good is getting old and no longer plays even the oldest games as it's burnt out the graphics chip and I thought that instead of replacing each part as it fails I'd finally move away from pre-built desktops and get my self a nice, shiny, new PC for me to do my gaming / school work on. Anyway I saw Tom's review for a budget <£600 PC and was disappointed to find that the bundle listed there has been discontinued by Aria. But I took a look around there site and have come up with a similar list costing me a grand total of £521.66, Being new to building a custom PC I thought I had better just check my list over with some experts and so here I am.

Here's my list:

• Gladiator Core i3 540 Pre-Built Overclocked Bundle
• MSI GeForce GTX 460 Cyclone OC 1024MB GDDR5
• Corsair TX Series 650W
• 1TB Samsung HD103SJ SpinPoint F3, 7200RPM
• NZXT Vulcan Micro-ATX Case - Black

So I'm wondering if this will play the latest games at mid - high while remaining relatively cool?

These parts will suit your needs, but newer parts have come out since that video.

You can change to these newer parts if you so wish, obviously they are more expensive and have better performance. But still a similar 'level' in current terms.

List looks good, seeing as the grand total is around £520 and i'm guessing your budget is around £600, I would recommend getting a 560 GTX and I found another PSU that might be worth having a look at.

This would put your total at around £575 as the GTX 560 Ti is only ~£55 more than the GTX 460 and offers better cooling and better overall performance.

Also i'm guessing you already have dvd writer + all other accessories.

The 560 TI is a good idea. However I would strongly disagree with the change in power supplies. The Corsair TX 650 that was mentioned in the first post is a great quality power supply that will easily be able to handle the 560. I really don't like Gigabyte's PSUs, because two of their power supplies destroyed themselves, while being in a friend's system.
