IE6 was notorious for drive by downloads and getting itself infected though

Also terribad at web standards, a site can work in pretty much all other browsers then go FUBAR in IE6 thanks to microsoft trying to invent its own web standards lol

I think the fact Firefox is opensource places it above all others, just due to the fact whats going on under the hood isn't a secret and can easily be improved upon by others. Sure exploiters can also view the code, but generally there are more trying to help on the source code than those breaking it.

I don't think most of the people prefer this or that browser... I guess most of the people surf with what they have on their machines pre-installed. and that would be IE.

Meaning that ... most people just don't care ...

i dont think the average user will care about a page loading 5ms faster! also the average user may struggle with turning the pc on, let alone users extra features of a web browser.

To tell you the truth the only reason I moved from IE6 to FireFox is because IE6 started hlaving problems with modern webpages. I didn't move to IE7 because it felt like an FF copy.

I also wouldn't say Firefox is noticably faster than IE.. the features are good mind.

Firefox is made by Mozilla.

Don't get me wrong.. I like Chrome.. Tis a very good browser. But I still mainly use Firefox.

True, I've been using Chrome for the past month or so and I like it. Some websites fail to support it or the browser doesn't display stuff correctly. (Xbox.com forum for example).

I was just using my last customer as an example. I installed firefox, she got a virus which stopped FF loading. I said well IE8 is working fine, do you want me to just remove FF, she said "No, its quicker and all my stuff and addons are on there"

I just think opensource is a great thing
