Im now fed up of my computer, and i actually have some spare cash now.

So its time for an upgrade :)

i have a budget of around £600-700.

Ill be mainly using it for gaming/music. That kind of stuff.

I have a rough idea on what i want. I just want to hear what other people can recommend. :)

All help is much appreciated.

Which components from your old system are you keeping? i.e. monitor, case, psu, keyboard, mouse? To give us some idea what components you want suggestions for.

OK, yea keeping my keyboard (G15) mouse (G5), monitor, speakers etc.

I have a case, which im planning on modding. so i dont need a new one. Im keeping my 320Gb HDD, but ill prob get another aswell.

I was looking at the C2D E6600 (Perhaps quadcore)

At least 2GB ram

hopefully a 8800GTS, Which shud be able to play games like Crysis

A hiper Type-R 580W PSU,

Not too sure about motherboards tho.

Hey Mr. Smith.

What are the specific benefits of waiting til November m8? Cheers.

Thought you said you had the spare cash not scraping some up after? :p

I'll just say what I told dan beforehand

Aim for a lower core2duo like I did (Llywd has a good one don't he?) and oc it

Get a good high-ish end gpu (wait for november :p)

As far as ram goes anything with decentish timings and about 800mhz from any decent company will do

Could go quad i suppose (do they clock well?) depending on prices

Stay away from creative cards...they sound good but creative software < anything

Next time we meet up ill get a proposed list up

WinMXer,

November sees the release of 2nd gen dx10 mid range gpus - 8800GT and 2950. Both are awesome and are better/equal to current top end for a fraction of the price.

Also its not too long until penryn. When they come out everything will drop in price so... Maybe wait as long as early next year!

Pingu you could just buy the gpu in November, and another gig of cheapo ram that would tide you over nicely until penryn.

At that point but a dirt cheap q6600/cheap penryn/whatever and transfer your gpu across.
