final nail in intel's coffin

But we haven't seen Intels next thing yet :D

True...true...I'm an AMD man but I will withold judjement till then Austin.....was just excited at those screenies!! :worship:

intel's next thing is Dual Core ....... and AMD has those lined up as well. Its like every corner Intel turns , AMD is sitting with a rifle aimed at Intel's head right now.

If only intel revived the P3 architecture or maybe started a new design with P3's architecture in mind and let go of their beloved room heating prescott , they might come up with something worthwhile. Dothan and Sonoma are both nice platforms but it will be a year before those chips find decent support on the motherboard side. Anandtech proved that an overclocked Dothan is insanely fast , equivalent to an Fx55 sometimes. So if support comes from motherboard side , we will see some nice duels . But then again , Turion is around the corner too , and San Diego core is coming which is gonna be the killer of the P4 EE chips :D .

This just gets better and better and better . Current P4's need to be overclocked to about 4.5 ghz ( with water cooling nonetheless ) to match an FX55 in performance . A winnie or Venice at 2.7 ghz will give most of the intels a run for their money except in crunching numbers where the extra cache helps. But then again , would you just have a number cruncher or an overall better performing rig ? That is the question my friend :D .

Quite obviously an overall well performing rig!!

I think whatever happens its gonna be good for us who want speed and power. Better faster applications and better, more complex and faster games all round. I'm glad Intels falling behind a bit cause it means they're really gonna have to pull their sock up and get designing! :D
