Fifty Five Below by Nick Parker *Update 27/08/09* PAGE 6

This Project has changed so many times I couldnt keep track of it anymore! :D So I have decided to just post hardware and cooling specs on the first page along with pics/vids of the latest progress....

Youtube Vid: Taken on a cameraphone, so yes, its poor quality, yes I know i sound like a muppet, and Yes, I know, I am a crappy presenter. I didnt plan what to say at all, so its a little muddled. its just a quick progress vid anyway. I'll do a proper on when Its complete ;)

:O very ncie.

btw that connector is just a PCB header connector, most commonly used on USB headers and power/reset headers. same kinda thing just find a usb connector and use that.

edit: just looked at my usb connector it seems the USb connector has 5 pins long and your one uses 6. so i guess you can improvise and use a usb connector and use any old switch connector to extend the extra row.

nah its not a usb one i tried that :( its far too small

thanks anyway

I'm liking the look of these MSI mobos, something strangely familure about them ;)

(exception perhaps of the mobo power connector "looking" pretty close to the 1 ram slot)

Nice layout on the face of it and a fine color scheme, that matches the ram coolers.

Love to know if u have or know of any screenshots of that MSI Bios anywhere. What interests me too is "fan5" header I think I saw, I'm thinking that the bios is going to allow management of all the fans - ala Abit ;)

As far as ur extension goes, the header looks like it's 2 pins short of a USB internal extension of sorts. U'll easily sort that out I'm sure. Get some pci-plate-usb port brackets and diy something. Or the old com port plates (serial connection)

say whattt?

and thanks for the ideas guys but i just reaaslised, since im switching cases i wont need to get an extension for it anyway, cos it wont be inverted :D

How long do u what the connector ill make you one.

Thats if you still would like one (free of course)

Omg that board is SEXY!

How much is this build biting your bank then? :p

lets just say the fiscal stimulus package wont be needed in the PC industry.

You've done pretty damn good with your faux studio setup for the close up pictures :)

The graphics will be bought last, so that by the time i actually finish this damn thing it wont be several generations behind

Aren't they 9800GX2's in the pictures? Are they really that poor performing already? :p

Looking forward to see where you take this.

Is phase really a viable option for regular day to day non-benchmarking use? Would have thought you'd get some sort of ice/condensation build up that would liquify between uses.

thanks, I try to take decent photos,

and yeah the 9800GX2s are just folding atm, but i figure either get the best or dont bother at all, :p, so Ill wait until im done with this and get the top of the line card(s) when the time comes.

Ive read up on it and yes it seems phase is alright for 24/7 use.

Its more just seeing what i can make tbh. I like to jump in at the deep end, this is the second computer ive ever built, the first was a dual loop TJ07 and i learned a lot from that. having never put together a computer before I was like "oh sh*t" when i saw all the parts, but now its just second nature.

The bios is pretty good, plenty of save slots for oc profiles and stuff, I think it came with a fair few utilites but i just think software oc and control is just too flakey so i have never used them :/
