A fairly basic little log, nothing special. ETA for completion is around end of the week. ;)

The brief:

A small, modestly spec'd, air cooled machine to use until I have the funds to build a proper watercooled high end machine based around the half price GD65 I got a couple of weeks back.

The mods:

Dual 120mm radiator/fan cut in roof (done by Pheonixdancer)

Black acrylic floor (to cover up triple rad cut done by Pheonixdancer :p)

Black acrylic drive bay/PSU stealth sheet

Front panel, LED, PSU and fan cables braided black

Basic window cut

The Hardware:

AMD Phenom II 720 Black Edition w/Thermalright TRUE

Asus M4A78T-E 790GX

4GB GeIL 1333Mhz DDR3

Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB

512MB ATI 4870 w/Thermalright T-Rad2

Cooler Master 700W

X-Fi Extreme Gamer

The Start:

How the front will look:

Looks a good fit?

It wasn't. Well, not quite. Did that thing we all do where we forget to account for the side panels >.< But i'll sort that later....

But the stealth look is already showing through:

Hoping tomorrow to get the 2nd piece of acrylic cut and the floor trimmed up so the side panels can go on.... may even start of the window. Thursday will be a mad braiding day and hopefully some hardware will be transferred over.

i have too get me one of those cases man there really well built.

back on topic..

great work soo far man cant wait too see the final outcome + watercooling now that would be a specticle :p

So far that bottom looks SLICK maannnn I could never have thought of that,

Just one question; Will that acrylic sheet effect the PSU fitting?

Shouldn't do, it's only resting on top of the plastic feet plugs and theres a good 10mm or so above them for the PSU mount.... I may need to have it fan-up though so it dont get starved of air. ;)

Anyways, updates:

Got the last piece of acrylic done this morning, aswell as the side panel. Even though I armed myself with a dremel, jigsaw and coping saw I was surprised that I only needed the jiggy (and the drill to do the starting holes).

Came out pretty darn sweet if I say so myself, the tight corners need some filing but the lines are straight and there were no "OMG NOOOOOOOOOO!" moments. As you can see I went for a diagonal angle that looks pretty good:

Close up to show where the tidying needs to be done:

And the 2 pieces of acrylic which will hide the PSU and drive bays from view when the panel is off... aswell as adding to the angular, stealthy look:

Now I gotta go find a lighter and get braiding. :D

New, already braided, PSU come today (yeah yeah, I cheated :P). Got the hardware installed and it's practically finished now (the first time i've ever set a deadline for a build and made it).

A couple of things need to be done before I can call it finished though:

-Decide what fans to use. Buy 'em, braid 'em and hook 'em up to the yet-to-be-installed Scythe fan controller.

-Sort out the HDD/drive bay bezel situation (3.5"-5.25" stabilizer covers the holes the bezel tabs secure into).... Might have to resort to l-brackets and super glue.

-Install some filter material over the intakes. The amount of dust that came out the A17 was pretty shocking. :S

Anywho, piccies!
