Eyefinity has stopped working

I have a Sapphire reference 6950 that up until yesterday was working wonderfully over my 3 monitors @ 1*5760*1080 or 3*1920*1080. Yesterday I resumed it from sleep and the middle monitor attached via a mdp -> dp -> active dp -> dvi connector, wasn't displaying. Now this has happened previously so I unplugged the mdp connector & plugged it back in which normally resets it. But this time no joy. So I reboot & still no joy.

Nomally when I boot one of the dvi monitors displays post info & this is also diplayed on the monitor connected via dp, but it stopped doing this. So this kinda indicated that there is a hardware fault. I have the latest ccc, have flipped the bios switch on the card & still can not get it to work. Have tried both mdp slots, different monitors on different cables, rolling back ccc to previous version etc.

I can't find anything useful from google, so I thought that some of you guys could maybe come up with something. I think its either the gpu, mdp to dp adapter or active dp adapter that's faulty. How can I tell which one it is as I have no way of testing or swapping out individual components.

Any help would be much appreciated as this is driving me nuts....

EDIT:

Forgot to add that if I plug the dp based monitor in, then one of the dvi monitors goes blank, and then on unplugging it again I get a displayport link failure error from ccc.

Maybe the female end of the DP is loose. May sound stupid but have you tried wiggling it around while it was in there just to make sure the connection didn't come loose on either the monitor or GPU. I noticed on my 6990 the plug that is used form my HDMI has to be wiggled around a bit and placed in the exact position or i either loose signal or everything turns green.

Thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated. I've tried wiggling & making sure all the connections are good. I've tried in both mdp ports & get the same result.

It seems to be failing to communicate with the 3rd monitor. So its 1 of 3 things:-

1. Active Displayport Adapter.

2. Mini Displayport to Displayport Adapter.

3. GPU.

I just don't want to go & spend £20 on another Active Displayport Adapter & find out that its not that...., but I don't see any other choice?

I've ordered another Sapphire Active Displayport Adapter for £16.99 so I can test to see if its that. If not then I'll have to rma the 6950.

Just to let you know my new Active Display Port Adapter arrived this morning, plugged it in and now have 3 monitors working again. So for some reason the adapter has died, just glad it wasn't the gpu.

I originally bought the adapter from Amazon, but after 30 days they say you have to deal with the manufacturer direct. It should be covered for at leat 12 months, I'll have to try and get a refund directly from Sapphire.
