Extra Points?

Hello, I am working towards bonus points (10 WU's) In GPU Tracker V2. I have done a 334 and 380 WU...

Why Am I seeing 1,299 points and 1,055 points when I haven't unlocked bonus points?

PPD on the units were 11,282 and 10,469.

Thanks!

Going by your stats, you have completed more than 10 work units

No I have been doing GPU folding.

Ah ok.

Maybe they count. Same happened to me. I had been doing unicore units and GPU units for a little while, then stopped folding. When I came back I went with SMP folding and got the bonus points right away.

I didn't argue and just went with it

Yep, GPU WUs count towards your 10, when I first started folding I was doing GPU and SMP and after 10 WUs between them I started getting bonus points. As long as you have over 10 WUs in total completed on time you will start getting bonus points.

I cleared my stats 2 days ago. It must still count. Thanks!

Check out the guides in this forum.

The most complex thing to do these days is to get a passkey, which is needed for getting the bonus points.

Stanford Passkey FAQ

After you have set that up I would suggest using F@H GPU Tracker

F@H Tracker site

Very easy to set up. Make sure you enter your username, passkey and team number (98860 for Team Redline) and the rest of the options are straight forward.

Any further questions just ask. But for a proper step by step guide, like I said, the guide section is very good.

You will, sorry to say. But it's easy enough to just leave running in the background and not notice it... unless you're one of the crazys that has a noisy PC under load*

The only reason I have an intel i7 2600k is because of folding. I'm also going to upgrade the CPU in my old laptop (cheap upgrade though) is because of folding. And the reason I use my old laptop day to day rather than my new one is because of folding.

......

Oh and I have a second GPU in my desktop.... also just for folding.

Let us know when you have it set up

*I say crazys because I cannot stand a noisy PC. To me mine is louder than I want, and by the sounds of it, it's quieter under load than some peoples idle systems

Got nosiy reference gpu's but rest of system is very silent. You can decide if your gonna fold with cpu only, or gpu only or both?

Yeah you can choose what you want to fold on. Using FAH GPU Tracker, nothing is selected by default. You can select to use Uni Processor (single core) or SMP (more than one core).

When running SMP you can select to use all cores or limit it to any number you desire.

If you want to run the GPU client, you can select to use just one GPU, and if you select the advanced methods for the GPU you can fold on that at the same time as the CPU and not take much of a hit on the CPU points.

Thats the best to use for folding on you're 2500K. Don't fold you're GPU's unless you use the V7 client which is a completely different program.

I assume that's what you meant, Folding with the GPU will reduce CPU points? Tick the Advanced Methods for the GPU and it takes way less away from the CPU

Don't bother folding AMD cards with CPU's atm. It will bring down you're CPU to like 6000 PPD. Until a new fully compatible client is made, I would personally do CPU alone or both GPU's. I would recommend you fold with just the CPU as you will get more PPD and over half the power draw.

I get 15000 PPD with just CPU but when I start folding with my single 5850 it goes down to 4000 PPD.

Sorry, I failed to say in my post above. My experience is with nVidia cards. And I assumed (foolishly) it's the same effect selecting the advmethods.

Worth trying of you havn't though.

Yeah AMD cards use like 3 cores of you're CPU. We need Stanford to release a fix for this.

Good to know. It works better with Nvidia gpu's and Intel? thanks Ravious
