EU Governments and Brazil select the PCMark Benchmark to specify PC performance

As many of us know not many people know what to look for when it comes to PC performance. This is why we benchmark, to give a numerical comparison to judge which components or even whole PCs are best for a particular task and/or a particular price bracket.

Futuremark announced today that its PCMark benchmarking software has been selected by the European Commission Directorate-General for Informatics (DIGIT) to specify the minimum required performance for over 100,000 PCs to be supplied to over 50 European Union organisations. PCMark has also been incorporated into the tendering, procurement and purchasing departments of the governments of France, Brazil and even my local Northern Irish Government.

Fututremark has been operating since 1997 as an independent company and is famous for their strict neutrality, never preferring any particular brand and/or vendor, making it perfect when it comes to PC selection for those who are not a tech savvy as many of us here.

Oliver Baltuch, President of Futuremark, said,
Organisations that buy PCs in large volumes need to know that they are getting the best value for their money. For two systems with comparable performance, a dollar saving on one could be worth tens of thousands of dollars in total.
Futuremark benchmarks are being chosen by such organisations for their neutrality, independence, and ease of use, values that are especially important to public bodies and agencies.

Futuremarks Tools and Benchmarks have been used by many industries and publications like our own Overclock3D, it is great to now see even Governments now using them.

We at OC3D congratulate Futuremark for being selected for such a useful role when it comes to government computing and wish them even more success in the future.

If you want to speak more about this, please comment below. How often to Futuremarks benchmarks, PCMark or 3DMark scores, impact your hardware selections when building a PC?

Civil servants in job centres everywhere will now be benching their office rigs, Blowing them up and losing customer records lol ^_^

Would be good if they could get this used as a way of selling pc's to customers in the likes of PCWorld, since they have a habit of saying a pc can do far more than it actually can.

Still though this is good for Futuremark but it's not going to cause me to start buying pre-built pc's.
