English Custom Polishing/Briliant Polishing...

...Are turds. Big steaming ones.

I read good things about the products.

I needed polish for my current chrome-li thing.

I ordered via the English site - Briliant Polishes (yes, they can't spell - I did wonder but I let it slide)

That was the 6th.

It's the 18th.

Nothing.

Emails go unanswered, phone calls/voice mails are ignored.

The one time I got through the guy was travelling in his car and promised to reslove the issue.

He didn't. Now the number is 24/7 VM.

The payment was made through world pay - they say contact the seller.

I phoned the bank and started a disbute. Probably take a few weeks to get my money back.

It's just annoying.

Maybe the US side English Custom Polishing is fine, but the UK side Briliant Polishing is a sham.

I hear Mothers Alu polish is good, prob get some of that.

That's really sucky mate.

For a long time now I've thought that all shops selling on the internet should be required to subscribe to and display something like Reseller Ratings on their website.

That way you can tell at a glance how good/sh1te they are.

Aye,

Its not really the money, it was £25 and the bank are good so I'll get it back.

It's the delay on my project damn it and the principle!

Yeah I know what ya mean. I hate waiting for stuff when I want to get a project going.

I almost ordered from that place funnily enough when I was thinking of chroming my SilverStone. After seeing how hard it was to get off the anodising I decided against it!

Mate,

The phrase 'bitten off more than you can chew' seems rather fitting.

I found a guide on how to do it, the guy must have has a cheap a$$ case as his annodisation came off with an orbital sander using a 300 grit. The whole thing, including polishing took a few hours (SSF).

I tried 260 grit with the orbital.

No joy.

80, yes EIGHTY grit. A little.

A few disks of 60 grit and about an hour of sanding, the front panel is down to bare alu.

Li-li annodising is nuke proof.

I'm wondering if I can get away with doing the front and top as the sides are sweet... Those side panels are HUGE! This is A LOT OF WORK! Have a chrome/brushed contrast... We'll see

I sympathise with you mate. I took an old Silverstone case door and had a go at it. Firstly I tried with some course sand paper and a sanding block. My hand hurt so bad after sanding for about 30 mins and I'd not even really made a dent in it. I then tried with one of those sanding mice, same thing...did cr@p all.

I saw someone do a chrome project on a Coolermaster. Took them about a month or so to complete. They also mentioned that they got fed up with it because it continually needs polishing as the chromed effect fades and the aluminium is really easy to scuff.

There are other ways to remove anodisation ;)

You can get caustic soda pretty cheap:

Alternatively, if you want to keep using your current polish you would probably find it easier with wirewool followed by sandpaper?

Cheers bud. I might try caustic... Wirewool is for after you strip the annodisation off. Basically, sand the

out of the case with coarse paper, then move to finer and finer paper before you use various polish/chemicals to finish.

Jim - I might look into a clear coat to protect the finish although not sure it would 'take' to a mirror polished surface. The top of the case I did the other day has already blackened... I thought the polish would protect it, as I don't have any I can't comment yet. Didn't think it would casually oxidise.

I also saw it done on XS... Back in a sec with a link... ta da

Further edit: Reckon this stuff will protect the alu after i polish?
