Did anyone else get the email with this in?

Collectively, you all are using a surprisingly high amount of bandwidth.

Please help us to make the SX broadband deal a success for all.

I hope people don't take the p*ss and balls this up for everyone.

Simon asked to make an occasional post on www.adslguide.org - but additionally if we give IDNet top reviews every month then it might start showing up with the bigger names in the comparison list.

:D

Yes i got the same :D

The IDNet-SX offer was a very generous one aimed at SysXtreme members.

Most of us here have modest bandwidth useage (occasional torrent, occasional linux iso, mp3's, gaming, etc) and we hope that anyone that hasn't been a long term SX member or maybe registered just to take advantage of this offer will take this into consideration when using the service :)

As for ADSLGuide, I know that IDNet will GREATLY appreciate decent coverage on their site and forums, so any helpful posts or votes for IDNet will go a long way :)

tbh just single out the ones that are taking the piss, and those who have decided to no longer even visit the forums and give them a harsh warning.

Tbh there will always be someone abusing the system.

I believe XMS has a list of those who have applied for the offer. So he can compare usernames to see how active they are or not active at all.

Adslguide has decent long time members but there will be people posting negative feedback to sabotage IDNET's success or give misleading information so we/ IDNET needs to watch out for them. As people just heard about IDNET so they dont have strong reputation yet.

I tend to do all my downloads overnight, how considerate of me.

I would hope that should out high bandwith use become an issue for ID's busniess customers during the day, that everyone else would adopt this practice. Also, if anyone from ID reads this is there a prefered time of day for doing bulky downloads?

I feel sorry for DSL users :( The contention ratio on cable is soooo much lower :) Rape the bandwidth all day and all night, muahhahaa.

I got the mail about 15 minutes ago and I have not been connected with IDnet yet, Although itis in progress.

Its all fine for you, US broadband, DSL or Cable is far superior to broadband over here. ;)

Well thats the problem isn't it. its a double edged sword, I am not with IDNet and maybe never will, but it is very easy to go to all of the ISP's on ADSLguide and sing the praises of this IDNet, telling the world that it is an unlimited line with no caps running at 2meg for £24.99 (leaving this board offer to one side). Speeds and pings are brilliant etc, whats going to happen, soon all the heavy usenet & p2p downloaders will want a piece of it and sign up, it is all to easy now with free migration etc. to do just that.

IDNet either wants to tick over nice & quietly or expand the userbase and and increase the daily bandwidth usage due to a clean unshaped line, you can't have it both ways.

regards

succuba

£24.99 for 2mb unlimited isn't too likely to get the p2pers, they'd go with someone like Tiscali or Geo, or anybody who offers stupidly low prices without caps. Its unlikely IDNet will have the problems that people like PlusNet or Gio or even F2S are/were having, as they don't seem the type of isp to allow oversubscription.

I'm in the same situation, BT messed up the migration last week, trying again tomorrow:rolleyes:

The problem with ISP's like Tiscalli is that they have eyes bigger than their backbones.

They just cant turn away new broadband users, and oversubscribe the hell out of their lines.

IDNet are not like that.

Yeh, both F2S and PlusNet were top ISPs, but then they got greedy and oversubscribed, and then started to go down hill and burn, (F2S are currently in the process of doing this). It also happened to Gio, but they seemed to have resurfaced. Tiscali have always been crap and are still using datascream.

Understood, but IDNet have their roots firmly in the corporate sector and want to make sure that they dont oversubscribe for the sake of keeping their business customers happy. They have also been trading for 10 years, if they was going to oversubscribe, they would have done it by now :p

I wonder if all IDNet customers got an email from CS regarding bandwidth usage or just the SysXtreme referals?

succuba

I also had the email tough not connected yet so i believe it has been sent to those who connected with SX offer.

True, I said in an earlier post that they were unlikely to anyway. I think the thing that needs to be done, something that Simon or others at IDNet will have to do is give guidelines of what is reasonable, and unreasonable monthly usage.

But the reasdon I came over to IDNET was that its uncapped....

OK so I probably won't do that much but I bet I'll overreach most caps on ordinary ADSL :(
