I would imagine as long as you aren't torrenting 24/7 or downloading every linux release ever made no one will give you any hassle.

I think it's mainly the torrenters that are jacking the bandwidth the most. I leave my quad Xeon rig uploading 24/7 for my private torrent tracker and upload over 100 gigs a month and probably download 50+ a month. It's people like me that get us all in trouble

But, I'm not on IDNet (trust me I would be if I lived in the UK!) so no worries from my end hehe

Whats the state of conections like in the US, as far as the Price/Speed/Bandwith go?

I know alot of webservices, espechaly hosting seem to be WAY cheaper over there, same for conections?

Just to let you know guys, the e-mail was NOT sent selectively. It was intended to be sent to all SX-IDNet subscribers, but some new subscribers and a few others slipped the net.

The problem for Simeon and IDNET is that their Broadband Offer has been made to a group of people who are more likely than not to be above average downloaders - my old Auntie (no downloads E-mail and information gathering) who would be unlikely to use 1 a month was not able to apply yet she is the very sort of customer that Idnet need if only to balance out their network. We shall have to see what happens - cause unlimited use is just not possible!

So Simon How about making the offer available to Pensioners Groups. At least they are unlikely to be downloading 24/7 ( one has to wonder what these 24/7 people do with the downloads)

i do use alot of badwiedth at nite but not during the day, well alot isnt quite 100gb a month ive been recommending idnet 24.99 a month to everyone id pay full price if they stopped the sx offer tbh

there just better than most isp's

I received the email and i only migrated to them on Monday.

I will only be using about 8-10gb per month which is far far from excessive

p.s. Speeds were poor at first (less than 512k on a 2mb line) but are a lot better in the last 2 days

With prices like that I think they will find it very hard to grow in the home market.

From the names of the products I guess they are aiming to target the work-from-home users of their business customers. But they do not yet have the home-user market presence or reputation to charge those prices when compared to someone like Zen.

I think active users of this forum who came for the offer and have become a valued member of the communituy should be able to have truely unlimited data transfer as was originally posted in the offer. It just seems a small yet generous thing to offer our loyal members / customers.

TBH, i think most people would find it hard to use 30gb a month.

After checking my stats with Simon, i use about 5gb a month, and i'd say i was a moderate/heavy downloader.

As stated before, the offer from SX-IDNet was a good one which shouldnt be abused. Even if a small number of people abuse it, they can spoil it for everyone, so consider what you download.

That would be great tbh. Not that i am complaining as my usage is low (3.6gb this month ) but i just find it wrong for companies to offer a product then change it just like that. 14.99 is still good for 30gb 2 mb line but uncapped / unlimited still my preferred package. Might consider Zen now

XMS - I understand what you are saying and I don't think many people will be going over 30Gigs, but I would like to hear something official. Yes it is a very good offer from IDNet but it was still advertised at unlimited so I'm sure you can appreciate that people want to know where they stand.

Still waiting for my connection after switching from Zen, just hope IDnet lives up to its promises, I don't download much at all, but I had unlimited with Zen and would prefer to keep it with IDnet. I am saving up to £10 a month so that will keep me happy for the moment. Just hope I dont have to eat humble pie in the future and switch providers again, no doubt time will tell.

I do recall an email saying that IDnet had built in extra bandwidth in their pipes to cater for demands in the future, hope this also rings true.

Until they mess up your bill and you have to spend ages being passed from person to person to sort it out.

I was with them for 2 years and it happed to me probably 3 times. Never going back with them.

What makes NTL better then IDNET , IDNET CS i can say its no1 , besides NTL is advertising their packages ( 1mb / 2mb ) as unlimited usage tough user policy hidden in T&C shows the usage limits 30 gb for 2mb line , 3gb for 1mb line - Check Yourself . (NO 20 )

Cheaper? your drunk right? Its £37 for either 10mb limited to 75gb, or 2mb unlimited, whereas IDNet is £25 for 2mb unlimited. The only ways you could argue that NTL is better, is, that if you went for the 10mb you would have a higher downrate, but you would be limited by a low cap. You could also say that NTL is better as cable is faster, so therefore you get better pings. I think the best arguement, would be if you were to argue that you get TV and Internet for less than most ADSL packages.
