Email From Simon For IDNet Users

I openly admit to joining SysXtreme because of the offer with Idnet, however having got here I find it interesting, if at times incomprehensible.

However I digress. I never got round to joining Idnet, decided to wait and see how they went, having left Plusnet for F2s and finding them deteriorating. Sadly it seems that maybe Idnet will go the same way, if all the large users jump on your bandwagon then the wheels will come off as the load is too great.

Sadly the offer here from Idnet was too good for the high users to resist.

I cannot see that Idnet can do other that raise their prices to the SysXtreme transferees or put some sort of cap on.

I'll wait and see, if they stay great with no cap then, even though the super offer is finished, I will probably go across to them

I can't see IDNET going the same way as the other ISP's like F2S etc. They're an intelligent company who know their strengths and won't overmarket.

I will definately stay with IDNET - especially if they release 8mb to my exchamge :D*

*Using their normal prices, obviously

OK. anyone using IDNet as an ISP care to divulge there monthly bandwidth usage, it would be interesting to see what kind of FUP guidelines they use, I can't find any on the website.

To what i know there is no FUP as package is unlimited and uncapped besides normal occasional home use which has 5gb limit.

No idea Succuba , only time can tell. Maybe he didnt mean whats written or used wrong words who knows :)

I have to admit to heavy usage since I migrated to IDnet on Monday. But that's because I needed quite a lot of downloads which have been stalled since Plusnet started throttling their service two months ago.

Once I have caught up, it should settle down to below average again.

Really hope we don't kill the golden goose with this one though :(

Ok, so basically if you use usnet etc. then you best pay the full price, I have no problem with that, as long as it is clear that the product is uncapped at full price.

I'm pretty sure it won't as long as we get some fully paid members in there and just don't totally abuse the bandwidth. When I say abuse I mean torrents 24/7 - and generally taking the piss a bit

Just to let you know guys, the e-mail was NOT sent selectively. It was intended to be sent to all SX-IDNet subscribers, but some new subscribers and a few others slipped the net.

Also, the email was not intended to chide anyone. As kempez said, "This is a good offer, don't take the p*ss"

I usally only download at night if iam downloading somthing fairly large because other people need to use my internet connection durring the day.

I havent had my net meter running all the time since i have been with IDnet but its been on most of the time and its reading 15gb i suspect its really more like 20-24gb of badnwidth. Thats since november so i mean thats not bad. I dont download all day every day just now and again and sometimes i have the occiasional big file that i want to download so i may leave on for a couple of nights. There shouldnt be any thing wrong with that.

I know I am not going to reach figures like 60gb in a month probably not even close to 30 for most months. My connection is in use all day uploading to web server and downloading small files, I wouldnt say iam a heavy user.

Have IDnet closed the offer because they have seen how much bandwidth we have used??

Funnily enough I've just come off the phone to Simon (confirming payment details ;))

On average, between the two of us, we use around 50gb of bandwidth a month, according to Supanet's monthly records (wasn't on a capped service, but the customer service was crap and our uncapped contract was going to run out in February anyway). It's been high these past couple of days since I've just had to reformat twice, and my dvd burner died in the process so I'm having to redownload the ton of software I can't live without. I try to do so late evenings and at night though.

I openly admitted coming over here for the broadband (someone told me to on adslguide- since I was after uncapped gaming broadband at a reasonable price, and I probably would have went with IDNet anyway after reading reviews). My sister in law is talking about getting a pc and the internet just for internet shopping and the like, so I'm going to recommend the IDNet occasional package to her, since she'll be lucky to get 1mb where she lives, and won't spend all day on the computer with a 2 year old and another on the way ;).

I must admit the customer service has been exceptional, so I'll cut down on my downloads a little (I've got most of my stuff anyway now :p) and will sing the praises of IDNet for as long as they retain this level of service.

No-one told me that Simon had a sexy voice, btw ;)

The way I read the email was that perhaps IDnet aren't seeing as many referrals as they would have liked.

I've recommended them to quite a few people, but most are on fixed contracts which won't be up for renewal for a while, so the payback on this won't be instant.

I've also mentioned IDNet to a few potential comercial customers. They are also very interested, but contracts apply here too.

In the mean time as we're on a special tariff, perhaps we could have some guidance from Simon as to acceptable use, as I for one don't wish to abuse the privilege. :)
