Im thinking about getting two of these: EK
This means i would have to cool down the vram and volt regulators with some passiv heatsinks.
I see some benefits with chosing these blocks. It means i dont have to change gpu block every time i get new cards, and they are also alot cheaper than the full blocks. A disadvantage is that it doesnt look as good as a full cover block and i also believe the vram and volt regulators would be cooled down better with a full cover block.
Im thinking about this, but i havent decided anything yet. These are the passive heatsinks ive been looking at Arctic Cooling VR001 Its a shame they are made of aluminum. Id prefer copper ones, but i havent found a set that is compatible with my 5870's. Modmytoys have some nice black copper ones and swiftech have this Swiftech MC8800
I guess the swiftech set can be used on any vga?
What do you guys think about doing this? Do you know any other passive heatsinks in copper?
Is it ok to paint copper with paint that is ment for high temperatures? I have auto paint that can be used on 300(think its was) degrees parts
