E6300 can't go higher

Hi guys, just registered today :D i'm just wondering y my e6300 can't go higher than 360 FSB? I'm using abit ab9 motherboard, kingston 2 gb ddr 2 667mhz. I am using 2 pieces of 1gb ram. I tried ram timing 4-4-4-12 and 5-5-5-15, both are useless also.

I've set my processor and ram ratio to 1:1. I've disable the those features eg Max CPU ID value as well. Increasing the north bridge voltage seems useless as well even though i read a lot articles saying is important. I even pump it to 1.7V.

My voltage

Processor 1.46V

RAM 2.3V

ICH to 1.5V

I can't even achieve 370 fsb! I notice if i want to achieve that is only through 2.4V in memory voltage, increasing other voltage is useless. It just keep reboot or can't start at all. And the mobo always sound a beeeeeeeeeeeeep sound. Like those when u start comp, beep. But this one beep for a few seconds.I know that anything above 2.5V is not really recommended and 2.5V is the highest number i'm able to volt my ram in my motherboard settings.

So, can anyone help this? It's been bugging me for a long time.

Btw, downloading new version of bios will it help?

Thx in advance ;)

Are you dropping the multiplier to go higher?

360*9 is 3.33GHz, which could easily be your CPU's limit for 1.46v. How high have you taken the vCore?

and i wouldnt say 2.4 is particularly safe for your memory, let alone 2.5

My E4300 takes 1.56 to get to 3.5 (388*9)

Nope, my motherboard doesn't allow me to change the multiplier, so it stays on to be 7. My multiplier is 7 only, so which means 2.5ghz T.T Any higher than that is going hang.

I've tried 1.5v vcore, but it seems to be useless. I notice that unless i increase my vdimm for my ram, is not going to work. Dunno y is like this. I seldom see ppl facing problem v ram voltage, mostly is vcore or vmch.

Er.... u mean u recommend me to push my ram to 2.5v? But my ram is just normal ram, doesn't hv any heatsink, so i scare it would burned my ram. Swt, really dunno wat caused this. I saw many ppl could easily reach 3ghz ++

Thx for ur replies :D

no no you misunderstood, dont push your ram past, i would say 2.3 without heatspreaders or direct cooling.

What memory ratios have you tried?

Your multiplier shouldnt be stuck at 7, all i can think of there is a BIOS update

Oic, sry for misunderstood. I've tried 1:1, 2:3, 4:5. All can't work. I'm not too sure, but i'm not allowed to change the multiplier >.< Will tried to update the bios asap. Will let u know the result when i'm done. Thx for the replies :D

Swt, i can't upgrade my bios, i've created a ms dos startup diskette, but when i copy paste the bios downloaded from website, it has insufficient space. I did all the correct thing but it just say insufficient to include all the files. So wat should i do? Thx in advance :)

Er... how do i do that actually? I d/l the awdflash.exe from abit website, when i double click it, it pop up as a ms-dos then suddenly close automatically. Sry for troubling, thx in advance :D

Just download / install uGuru from Abit and use the automatic BIOS flashing software

Cant really explain it much clearer than that so just click this

CLICK ME

Extract it

Install it

Start > All Programs > Abit > Abit Flash Utility (or something similar)

Ah I think they might have wound down the automatic flash utility >.<

Last 2 generations of Abit board I`ve gone to install it and it just opened up docs about the dos version.

I used it the other day

If that is the case i'll upload a zipped up installer for an old version later

If that doesn't work you'll have to flash from a USB pen which is easy enough if you google a guide

Really thx for the replies :D Much appreciated. Er... i'm wondering y i can't open the oc guru and guru clock files? It is at the task manager there but it won't show anything. And i clicked the flash utility, but it keeps warning me about the danger of updating the bios version. Issit really that dangerous? Even from abit webbie. Thx for the replies and sry for the trouble :)

It can be dangerous if you get a power outage when flashing.. other than that it should be fine really. :)

I do it all the time.. I think we all do it.

That`s the route I took.

It`s advised on the Abit support forums and so on not to use the windows based thing too.

EDIT: My bad, apparently it is regarded by the forum people not ABit. Apparently Flashmenu working ok. Probably got installed with my uguru and I haven`t noticed.
