Does Wireless give you Cancer?

What's peoples thoughts on this?

My mother is a bit of a phobic, and as such we have no wireless in our house, but I was wondering what other people thought?

I'm a bit undecided myself, there seems to be evidence both ways, so I wanted to see what everyone else thought.

Everything gives you cancer...from eating a burnt piece of toast to swallowing some headache tablets.

Even if you lived in a house in the middle of nowhere with no TV, no mobile phone, no overhead power lines, no wireless, no nearby mobile towers and a 30ft high lead filled wall around your house, you'd still probably end up with cancer at some random point in your life.

Live life, do what makes you happy, ignore all the crap about "this/that could potentially give you this/that" because living in fear isn't what life is about and you may end up dying in a freak accident anyway.

Sorry to be morbid, but that's my take on things.

Agreed, there's at least one research a day saying we're all going to die. There's only two on the cancer side which I'm taking seriously: the overhead power lines (two times the chance of leukemia) and of course smoking.

yeh i mean lets take JIM for example. its not his fault hes now sterile from testing all them power supply's ....

People who live on remote islands get cancer. Many believe that it could be a gene. The amount of screwing around with nature humans have done over the years, it'd be hard to argue. Some doctors believe everyone will get cancer, it just varies at what point in their life it developes. 80 or 40 ?

Maybe things speed up the growth ? Influencing the imune system can't help.

Tell her about all the signals coming in from the mobile masks! does she have cancer yet?

You've got to die of something!!

As long as she doesnt go to the extent of a guy who called where i work before I was there complaining his wireless just would not work. The guy had it in a biscuit tin with holes cut out for the wires and the lid on - his reason was the radio waves are likely to give him brain damage.

Maybe it does, maybe it doesnt but if you take steps to avoid it, whats to say you wont get cancer from a poorly insulated microwave in the kitchen? Or get hit by a bus crossing the road.

i eat wireless for breakfast! meh the rumors are just silly everyone in a sense is born with cancer it just pops up in most people and goes "hey time to die"

water can give you cancer technically.

Stop worrying.

The energy of wireless is so low that frankly you will never prove cases of cancer are cuased by it. THere is no increased incidence shown in any studys at present.

thus causation is exceptionally unlikely and if it does cause the risk is about the same as from breathing in air...

Humans have lived over a hundred years now with radio waves wizzing through the air. I am sure an addition of the wireless router won't do any harm.

The problem with "surveys" that seem to point towards these things causing cancer or foods causing cancer etc is the non-systematic error involved.

The only way to properly conclude these tests would be for people to be "cloned" and raised from birth within a restricted environment with exactly the same food, clothing, medicine, sleep etc etc which is completely impossible. So the error inherent in these tests is MASSIVE. Add to that the difference in geneology and lifestyles etc and the tests become meaningless in my view.

We get cancer from everything, people were worried abut mobile phones but I don't think anyone will give them up?

Hw often do you use your landline nowadays?

I've been working in National Grid Sub-stations / power stations for 15 years and i honestly dont know of anyone whos had cancer thats been proven to be from overhead pylons. The amount of people i know who have had / got cancer through smoking is a different matter.

I smoke and work under Pylons on a daily basis, the wireless router is sat in my office and theres 400kv crackling away 20metres from my office, do i worry about cancer? nope.

Worry about other things but the little box sat in the corner of my office that blinks away all day worries me naught.

My partner works in education and the last wireless scare saw the I.T. depts in many schools she works at go wired, at a massive expense due to bloody scaremongering.

i avoid wireless 'cause at least with a wire you know it's plugged in :p

Seriously, there's worse stuff to worry about than wireless. Take mutent badgers for example!

Good point but what about peoples names for there wireless networks? Bit strange me thinks!

Yeah thats bound to give you cancer :\

When I want the missus to do something I often change the name/password of our wireless network e.g "Do the washing up" and don't tell her the password until she's done it :p

Mean aint I :p
