my friend i am not a doctor, but i nearly am, im a clinical medical student,

you are at a major risk of diabetes, infact I would go to your doctors and tell them about your diet problems, see if you can see a dietician or something to help, otherwise your going to end up in a ireperably damaged state,,,,very soon

for your own good please seek professional help

cut out the sugar big style, your looking at impending diabetes unless your a very l ucky man

even doing this with your weight issues you are in a high risk of diabetes type II.

Really might be worth going and just chatting to your doctor, they may be able to point you in a direct that will work for you, or not, but at least you'll have the proper facts , which you frankly need, to make valid decisions on things like this.

at 17 stone and 5 foot 5 your just , and imean about 2 pounds off, being classed as morbidly obese..

"Why is obesity a problem?

Experts believe that obesity is responsible for more ill health even than smoking.

Being significantly overweight is linked to a wide range of health problems, including:

* Heart disease.

* High blood pressure.

* Arthritis.

* Diabetes.

* Indigestion.

* Gallstones.

* Some cancers (e.g. breast, prostate).

* Snoring and sleep apnoea. Stress, anxiety, and depression"http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/medical_notes/3189930.stm

thats the risks your running up against mate, fingers crossed for you to do what you feel is best.

And you turned your nose up to martial arts - its great fun, you learn to defend yourself and gain self confidence

Give up the pepsi, find a active hobby or sport and go on a low sugar diet

You reaaaaaallly dont want diabetes

If those were cans of Carling I would be alot more worried.

You will be fine and soon get sick of it... i hope :p

might go see a doc...cant say it bothers me tho

my grandad lived until he was 78..

he smoked all his life

drank coffee all his life, never did any excersize

and he lasted til he was 78

i think its maybe more genetic than how you look after yourself

i mean, if your in the career of say jumping off bridges, then ye, exeption, but .....maybe .....hmm

sod martial arts

to be quite honest

i HATE sports

i have hated them since school

i hate them now

i aint gonna embaras myself

sod that

no way in hell.

i'd rather have diabeeties, and i'm being serious, i fCuking hate sports.

i hated my PE teacher...so much

anyway...i'll limit myself to a can a day..

should help for the time being

A can a day sounds good.. I dont know how you can drink that much haha.. More than one can gives me a headache..

Anyway on a more serious note, try take up some kind of activity i know you said you hate sports but surely exercise isnt that bad.. Just go for walks on an evening, buy a dog, anything that gets you out and about. I would seriously suggest badminton though, my brother hates sport but likes badminton, its the only sport he will play.

Anyway good luck man, you'll be fine in the short term, just gotta think about the future.

Like I said in your previous 'Pepsi' thread a while back, you really need to cut that amount down. Moderation is the key. Beware of a lot of the bottled fruit juices too as they tend to be loaded with sugar, and the actual percentage of real fruit juice in them is laughable. And get yourself outside walking, cycling or swimming and you'll feel the benefits

I am not one to talk as I don;t do much exercise and what not.. but being so narrow minded when it comes to sport is embarressing in its self.

I swim at least once a week with my Dad... I go fishing with my Dad and I have a good old walk up to the pub. Also Sex.. I know it sounds funny and all but sex is on of the best exercises you can do. :D

Seriously, I recommend a cut down.. as PV said Moderation is key. No need to stop, there would be no fun in life if we all stopped doing "unhealthy" things. But just cutting down the amount you drink would really help. Maybe in the future only drink it at special events.. like the Pub! ;)

I don't wish to be unkind, but you are the proverbial fat kid. Of course if you were fat at school you would have hated PE and the PE teachers. You got in to that mind set then and have resigned yourself to being obese and refuse to do anything about it. Basically your too bloody lazy to help yourself and take comfort from all the sugar, with some FAT people it's chocolate.

I have a friend who is 15 years younger than me and he weighs about 28 stone. Granted he's over 6 foot but still far too fat. Now here's a surprise, his hobby is collecting and watching dvd's while stuffing takeaway, or rather bring to him, food!

The only 1 surprised when he got diabetes at 36 was him. He was also quite shocked when his knees started giving out and he had pains in his hips. He also can't understand why he lives alone and can't find a girlfriend?

Anyway the doc gave him a strict and very boring diet along with some pills and an inhaler because he's also developing asthma and is constantly short of breath! If he is REALLY lucky he might see fifty. Sorry but you are going the same way!

I don't mean to be unkind, but I do mean to be harsh because the only one that can get motivated to help you is you!

Good luck.

your probly doing more damage to yourself than smoking 20 a day.

Its your choice but when you get diabetes bad, heart problems, and struggle to see 50 or it criples your every day life you might regret that choice
