DFI NF4 SLI-DR Kicks A$$!!!

ah I see - well I dont think it's cheating as such although you should use approved drivers only. I scored 10381 with the latest official nvidia FM approved drivers.

WOW hugely nice scores! Makes me want to consider 2 6800s. My board has just arrived and I am very impressed with the amount of crap they give you with this board, with emphasis on the crap, although I'll still use some of it. :D

Mine is an A01 board however which is annoying and means I will be sending it to DFI for replacement, only had it 10 mins and I have to get rid of it.

Oh well never mind. I'll get to play with it when it returns from RMA.

Dillengerdan,

How do you know it's an A01 board and what is the deal with RMA?

Has DFI accepted that A01 boards are suspect and a product recall has been issued?

I am curious as I will go for the same if mine is similar revision, got mine from Gladiators.

Please advise.

Cheers

If you look at the bottom edge of the last PCI slot, there is a sticker that has a barcode and product number on, and to the bottom right it says R. A0X, X being the revision number.

I was looking through a few forums the other day and Angry_Games on the DFI site said if your board is not an A02 board you can send it back to DFI and they will swap the board or modify it to an R.A02.

Theres a link to it.

Hmm, but I read on in the thread and find this:

Maybe I won't have to send my board back then! Seems strange but anyway! I'll set up the board unless they tell me to return it and just flash to newer BIOS.

I am trying to rma a board that went bang killing a very nice winnie that was stable at 3.14Ghz in my GT,only sometimes it would post also 50% of the time the northbridge fan would not spin, I only had the board since the 19th... and it lasted 4 days, anyways they sent me this email today.

Dear Customer :

Your Service Request for motherboard with serial number was

DISAPPROVED.

The reason(s) for disapproval is/are :

instability probably due to RAM incompatibility, can be resovled a) Must have2 sticks, in DIMM 2 and 4. b)Set jumper JP17 to 1 and 2. Also see FAQ, "Why my system becomes unstable and hot when switching "Dram 4V Select" jumper JP17 c)Adjust VDIMM 2.8V. c) Check for BIOS updates and see FAQ under memory subcategory for NF4, list of recommended memory.

Therefore, please DO NOT send this motherboard.

However, if you have further enquiries or would like to appeal such decision,

please call: +31-10-296-1840 (English service only)

Thank you for your kind attention.

Best Regards,

DFI Service Center

I will never again buy I DFI product, I really am lost for words

Thats actually a damn shame. I just got an email from them that said don't send it back as the service is for faulty boards only, so I will be suing this one.

So does your board still work? I would just attempt again and see what happens. I'd just tell them that something blew on the board and it now refuses to POST. Works a little better than 50% of the time. If they get it and can't get it to post half the time then they won't send it back to you in that condition, but if they test it as working then it is more than liekly down to another component.

Thats sad news d00d. I think DFI boards are great when they work, but ive had 4 die on me. I'd be very reluctant to buy another. I'd rather have a slighly less overclock for a reliable board.

Nice I got my DFI and X850XT PE comming tomorrow but wont be able to hook it up till late plus I have tccd memory which I hear may have issues with this mobo depending on the bios loool

TCCD ram is not like by the bios dated 25/1/05, the BIOS on the BETA site will sort it out.

Boot up uisng some old DDR333 or 266 ram is you have it, then update the BIOS and then fit the TCCD.

All will be well with your MOBO and the Nforce4 will be with you young padawan

Nice indeed, hopefully they are all the same and the BIOS is the only difference, and mine works with no problems.

All I have to do now is save up some cash for a new card, I'm pretty sure I won't be breaking any records with a Radeon 7000 PCI card. :D

Right so what do I need to know - I now have the DFI mobo, a 3800+ to play with and a 850 XT PE - the only thing I'm missing is the pci-e psu :o I sold them all....

Well you don't really need one of those, just a 20-pin and a convertor for the graphics card connector.

Obviously you just treat it like any other motherboard, just make sure you visit DFI-street if you have any problems as most things will have been discussed before more than likely.

Its probably worth downloading the latest Beta BIOS aswell which should give you some extra stability and eliminate a few issues at the same time, although it may bring a few aswell.

I know a place thats getting the molex sli converter plugs they may even have the 24 to 20 pin atx converter plugs toooo:D

Either that or I just wait till next week!!!!

Just so you all know 20pin PSU's do fit + work with 24pin motherboards, jsut leave top 4 pins empty.

Most people recommend 2/18 bios however OPB just told everyone on XS that there is a new bios, the 3/10!

Unfortunately my X850 was doa and the tagan 480 is being rma'd... twinmos utt on the way too me...

Damn I wish those G5 blocks were here... I want H20!
