So i have a dell u2311h for a year, very very happy but i want another one so i can use this one in portrait mode. I"m just trying to decide weather i should buy another u2312hm or a u2412m. Price difference is about 70 euro in my country. I know that u2412m is very good because it"s a 16:10 monitor but since i"m gonna have my u2311h vertically height shouldn"t be a problem. So i"m trying to decide. Am i really gonna feel the benefit of using a 24 inch 16:10 monitor as my primary or should i just buy another u2311h/u2312hm ??
Does it feel nicer to watch videos and play games in 1200p?

I would just get the u2312hm as the only benefit to the 16:10 aspect ratio is the added height. For gaming and movies it makes no difference tbh.

Yeah i agree with both of you, i don"t think i"ll se much difference, i am a programmer and i like to see more code withouth scrolling but i"ll get that by putting a u2312hm in portrait mode.

And yeah i just can"t get u 2311h ,that sucks!

I know that, look if i was buying a new monitor and i didn"t have a u2311 i"d buy a u2412m withouth asking you. But having a u2311h i really can"t decide. I could leave my u2311h lanscaped witch would look nicer than portrait and then i could buy a u2412m and use it for programming and everything else. But it"s just hard to decide :)

I agree, not just for programming but portrait is so good for reading and searching forums. I"m gonna flip my u2311 now just for test. I have just been thinking it would be nice to have a 16:10 24 inch as a primary and a 16:9 secondary in portrait mode. But if you say i really won"t feel much difference then it"s not worth those 60 -70 euros

OK thanks, now back on topic, i jjust flipped my u2311h, Honestly portrait mode is not as practical as i expected, it rocks for programming but 16:9 u2311h is damn tight.Really needs more wideness. Its very cool and easy to read like this but its so narrow that i just don"t find it very practial. If i would leave ma u2311h landscaped than a u2412m would be much better right?

you know what. I have a friend living close to me. He has a 2407wfp that he doesn"t use now. I"ll ask him if i can borrow the screen for one day just to test it because it"s a 16:10 24 inch. So i can see what is it like. Really when my dell is in portrait mode it just lack wideness. It"s awesome for coding and reading but i just don"t feel like i"m using it"s sufrace as good as i do when it"s in landscape.

No, i"m not home now, it"s summer so i"m on an island but i brought my pc with me :)
I really think i wouldn"t benefit from a better mouse so i won"t buy it.
